Hi Guys! Ok, not sure if this is the right thread to ask.... but ill take a shot lol

My Boyfriend is SO excited to see this movie, so i booked tickets for us as a nice surprise, for an IMAX showing on Thursday. Anyway, told a guy at work this & he almost wet himself lol apparently IMAX is the way to go. I just wondered if its really all its cracked up to be? I admit im kind of a novice with these things. :o

To get the thread back on topic tho, ive surprised myself with how much im looking forward to this movie!! And im not even into that whole "super-hero" thing, but this looks SOO good!

With just 13 days to go before the official UK release of The Dark Knight (TDK) i thought it's about time we have an official thread for this summer's most anticipated film!

I've got my tickets for TDK experience at Glasgow's Imax on Fri 25th July 7.40pm showing and can't wait! As a teaser please click below for TDK review from Rolling Stone magazine.

(By now we all know things about this movie, certain scenes, lines said, etc but please NO spoilers in this thread!!!)

On a side note, i've been a RAB reader for 6 months and just officially joined the Forums so a big mighty 'Hello!' to everyone out there who reaRAB and participates here! :)

I know you weren't asking me, but my personal view is that in no way does it live up to the hype. It's not a BAD film, but it's not particularly good either.

But that's just my opinion, we're all different and from reading all the rave reviews I'm obviously in the minority. :)

I've never watched a Batman film in my life! Does it matter? I wasn't really bothered about TDK but seeming as there's so much fuss being made, I would like to go see it (plus I think Heath Ledger is brilliant) and I don't want to get confused. But I don't want to have to watch any bloody Batman films beforehand either. :p

apparantly Jonathan Ross slated it? duno if this is true, heard it off my frienRAB dad.
Not that ive ever liked Ross, but surely this can't be true??

Do yourself a favour and watch Batman Begins.

Batman Begins is an acclaimed film too and leaRAB in to this film.
At the end of the day, this is a sequel and should be treated as such, rather than jumping on a Heath Ledger Bandwagon.

Hello!!!!!!!!!! I've only been on here for a few days myself so i'm relatively new here too. Welcome :D:D:D

I'm afraid I'm extremely behind with Batman..(only seen Batman Forever) but I really want to watch them all. Eventually i'll catch up with you guys :D

Shame on you!! See the Burton films, and Begins now tumtumtum! Stay away from Batman and Robin, unless you want a laugh :p

Can't wait for the new one, looks amazinggggggggggggg.

You only need to bother watching Batman Begins as all the other films are in a seperate continuity. Perhaps if you wnjoy TDK you will want to watch BB

I didn't particularly enjoy it. It took too long to get started and was way too dark and confusing! The fight scenes were a mess, and the editing was just bad. For once I agree with the Daily Mail, it wasn't a film about justice, it just reveled in violence (which is fine by me, but it was trying to be something it's not).

4/10

Yes shame on me....:o I'm very bad at completing series of films. Haven't seen the 3rd Spiderman film, 2nd POTC, batman (obv), erm.....i'm sure there are more!!

Without getting pedantic Nolan is actually born of an English father and American mother and has duel nationality. His brother Jonathan actually speaks with an American accent and was raised in Chicago. But I agree it took someone who had lived outside a lot of the whole US comic book culture to rejuvenate it.

I wouldn't be surprised if many of the staunchest defenders of this flick are those who fell for the hype, were maybe disappointed with it, yet perhaps can't bring themselves to admit to it.

After not being overly impressed with Batman Begins I didn't exactly have high hopes for TDK - I was though surprised when it turned out to be WORSE than BB .........

A bit of advice, before TDK comes out you REALLY should watch Batman Begins. It's the best of all the modern batman films IMO, and that's coming from an avid Tim Burton fan!

I would highly reccomend that you also watch Batman (1990) and Batman Returns, if only to see Jack Nicholson's Joker from the first film, just to get a guage of what Ledger did with the role (been creaming my pants over his Joker since the first photos were released, and that was a month or two before he died).

PS, I have never ever watched Batman and Robin, out of nothing but principle.

You are joking right? (no pun intended) The first pictures of the joker were released over a year ago lol.If you saw them 2 months before Heath died.......you missed out on A LOT!.

I saw TDK both in regular theater and in IMAX. The difference is staggering. Actually as soon as the movie began, everyone started clapping over how clear the image was. It really is worth the extra money. Everything is enhanced, especially the action scenes.
Seeing this in IMAX is just an amazing experience.

Hope you enjoy it!
