Terminator: Salvation - surprised!

Movie critics have a tendancy to be wedged far too heavily up their own anuses. Reading many of the reviews, one would think that T1 and T2 were written by Shakespeare, instead of being mindless Arnie flicks.

Reviews that made me laugh were the ones that said this film spent too much time on action, instead of dramatically discussing the issue of what it means to be human. Excuse me, but this is TERMINATOR! Get off your high horse and accept that mindless actions movies have their place in this world.

I doubt that this is the last we'll see of the Terminator series. Correct me if i'm wrong, but it has comfortably passed the $200 million mark, and it's still rising. It's been more of a hit internationally than in the US too. And don't forget there will be the DVD/Blu Ray sales factored in as well. I think we'll definitely see T5 by 2011.

I've just seen it tonight too - pretty good, but nowhere near as good as the incredible Terminator 2. I'd probably give it a 7/10 and agree with the previous poster that it's on-par with Terminator 3.

One major thing that annoyed me with it though, was that it was FAR too loud. The gunfire and explosion FX were near deafening...

it is certainly fantastic, but i think T1 pips it in hinRABight.

it has a tighter script. the whole "is reese mad, because he has no proof whatsoever?" angle is superb imo

i think james cameron's sequel that is marginally better than the first is the sublime "aliens"

Another couple of points that one of my frienRAB made...

Where on Earth did they they find fuel to run the helicopters for all those years?

How did they grow fresh carrots in the middle of a desert land?

I saw this and just thought.... hrmmmm... It's a mindless action flick trying too hard to not be a mindless action flick, and there's something there that doesn't quite click properly.

All in all, completely average, thus 5/10.

watched this last night. was okay, nothing really memorable. one thing i did like was the fact that years ago, i imagined that a film set in the terminator future, would be cool if it showed humans being processed in cages watched over by terminators. that's exactly what we got too, which was good.

i can't take to christian bale at all. he just takes it all way too seriously, thought the other guy was great though, and definitely one to watch (clash of the titans and avatar should be great)

i thoroughly believed that anton yelchin was a young "kyle reese" he was very good i thought.

nice gritty look to the cinematography, but the plot was all over the place

i thought the much talked about "cameo" was a bit pointless, but done well i suppose (ps if you have watched the trailer with him in, don't expect to see much more, that's basically it!)

Imagine my immense frustration when upon leaving the cinema after watching Terminator Salvation, one of my frienRAB turns to me and says that he thought it was better than T1!!! I felt like terminating the naive idiot, lol.

Only his constant craving is for pies.
Much as I like the Terminator movies, I almost want this one to be a steaming pile of poo. It would make Christian Bale's disgusting rant seem so much more pompous and futile.:D

For me this is the biggest issue with it - it's 'average'ness. I don't think I would have minded if it had slotted into the 'so bad it's good' territory and we all could have had a good laugh at McG and loaRAB of explosions going off. But with Bale being involved I expected more and it did NOT deliver.
