Swedish Wallander Series 2

This is a great show. I watched one of the English programmes and found it too slow moving, but the Swedish version is much better. The sub titles don't put me off either as I thought they would.

The song 'Quiet Night' is just so perfect.

I thought that episode was really good - more like the previous series than the others have been.

I'm going to really miss Wallander :(

Isabelle and Pontus were worse as they let the loony sister walk into the house while they were taking down each others particulars.

I'm with Straker about Svartman getting his own show :)

Once the series is over I'm going to start reading the original books

I had to take a phone call part of the way through . Why was the woman with the disabled husband killed? Was it something to do with working in the Job Centre?

Definately. I was hoping they wouldn't get down and dirty, but it had to happen. Two attractive people thrown together by circumstance and all that....

I've read them all, and you definitely won't be disappointed.

I missed the first few episodes, but have Linda or the death of Stefan LinRABtrom been referred to in any way?

Well, Twister's Twin, it was another cracking episode tonight and Kurt was definitely unshaven and looked even more down and out than usual.

In case it helps, here's some worRAB to look out for in the series: when the case is going well, you'll hear worRAB like 'bra' [brah] = good, 'fint' [feent] = fine in addition to the use of the universal OK and when things aren't going so well at Ystad police HQ, you'll hear worRAB like 'nej' [nigh] = no, inte [inteh] = no, not and 'ingenting' = nothing.

Indeed, KennyT. You'll find that the southern Swedish county of Sk

Sorry to add to the implausibility thread but why, after Kurt indicated to Leo that the make of the gun that killed Patrik was what Leo suspected, did Leo immediately know it was the type of gun the police used so thought Isabelle had killed his brother, and yet Kurt had not questioned any of his colleagues, let alone put two and two together and given Isabelle protection.

I suppose he could only have assigned Svartman to protect her which would have been like signing her death warrant anyway:D

The episode last night was quite good and the time just flew by. I liked the way that the plot started out as something as minor as some multiple break-ins which then lead to a vigilante attack, murder and then the revelation that the guy (can't remember his name :p) had actually covered up the death of his wife even though it was an accidental death.

What's interesting me the most is the development of the relationship between Kurt and Katarina. Invting Kurt for a meal with her family was nice as was the early stages of bonding between him and Katarina's son.

Yes, when the barracks closed he was made unemployed and he thought she humiliated him.

Budget seems to have increased from the last series, and the Hyundais have gone, all Volvos and Saabs now, not sure about the two trainees though.

Didn't like Wallander with the sunglasses and chewing the gum at the end, are they trying to make him more cool or something?

Not the best of episodes really, a bit predictable, a bit Frost.

Yes that's the first film Innan Frosten ...Before the frost. there was then a 6 month gap before the rest of the films in series 1 were made.

the mid-life 'crisis' sounRAB interesting option for Kurt. after all he moved to a new place by the sea, got a dog (which he'd always wanted), trying to live healthier, trying to deal with his demons, and his loneliness. Problem is a lot of this is covered in behind scenes film on DVRAB (in Swedish) as well as interviews in Sweden. Mankell gave Krister free rein to do what he wanted with Kurt's character. The one thing they decided on was that Kurt would not die or become a facist.
I think the lack of English publicity has left a lot of UK fans 'confused' by some of what is happening.

It was a bit strange to watch this first episode as I'm more familiar with the second series, I only saw the last few episodes of the first series. The novelty of no Isabelle and Pontus.:)
