Swedish Wallander Series 2

I'm loving seeing Linda and Stefan again, but I never missed them in series 2, Isabelle and Pontus filled their boots admirably.........If I had to choose, it would probably be Linda and Stefan purely because of the effect Linda's relationships have on Kurt:)

Some good comedy business from Svartman, playing games on his mobile phone when he was meant to be guarding the priest.

I'm still not liking Pontus and Isabelle

After watching these (having already read the books) I searched for DVRAB. Unfortunately the only ones with English sub-titles are Australian! I ordered them all from http://www.devoteddvd.com.au and reasonably priced. They are Region 4, though, so make sure your player can handle them. Lucky for me I found that I can change my Philips player using the remote (no restrictions on number of times you can change it, but I just set in to Region 0). They are well worth watching, for the stories, the acting and the scenery!

The BBC 4 one (s) is (are) the Swedish version. The Alibi ones are series 1 of the UK version.

No info at all yet on what series/episode BBC 4 is showing on 24 July. Even Digiguide has no details. And the BBC 4 site does not yet go that far.

I just heard from Yellow Bird that they are seeking a UK DVD distributor. When that happens the remaining episodes of Season 2 will get English subtitles. So until then hopefully the BBC will show Season 2 again.

watching series 1 if you haven't seen it, rather than earlier episodes of series 2 shouldn't be too bad because the character list is different, Lisa, Anne-Brit, Linda and Stefan, rather than Katarina, Isabelle and Pontus, each series sort of stanRAB on its own. I thought I would miss the old characters in the new series, but I didn't, and I loved the new characters just as much.............that for me is the strength of Wallander, you get caught up in the whole, rather than individual characters:D

And the sunglasses on again for the walk into the crowd at the end, I am torn over whether the producers are trying to make Wallander more popular with the younger demograpic (hence also the two new good-looking cops) or whether Krister Henriksson is going through a mid-life crisis and the sunglasses and gum chewing are his ideas.

They've made the classic error of replacing interesting, good-locking characters with dull, good-looking ones. Last night's episode felt a lot longer than it was. Being able to guess the solution isn't a problem in itself, but when there's very little of interest between guessing and finding out you're right then it becomes a problem.

The story itself felt something out of a British Sunday tabloid. Wallander works best when the plot is faintly bonkers and Kurt has a good reason to look bleary-eyed and baffled.

Actually, this is the first time I have ever replied to a post like Bibendum's - and it was not for personal reasons at all. Like you, I always just shrug my shoulders and get on with life and reading, but I just wanted to make my point that this was a new series we were discussing and yet again there was this KB bashing. So old hat.

I am past the age of being impressed by others' insistence on showing their intellect, real or assumed.

Thanks.
Found the pair of eager young pups coppers particularly annoying, resorted to talking to the TV, but they failed to listen to an older and wiser head, yet again...

Really love this Swedish version of Wallander. Well done to BBC 4 for showing it in primetime but why not promote it on their channels?

I think the whole thing is excellent TU, I was watching 'Lewis' yesterday and I thought this is a hundred years behind Swedish Wallander. The way the Wallander cast interact with each other, the way the story moves on it's just in a different class to a majority of UK police shows just now (and i include British Wallander in that).
Sometimes after a 12 hour shift I fall asleep watching tv, but I NEVER fall asleep during Swedish Wallander..............a total fan:D:D.
I hope they can persuade KH to do another series..........won't hold my breath tho:cry::cry:
