Swedish Wallander Series 2

There's an easy solution when someone posts messages with which you don't agree.
"Scroll down."
It amuses me when some want to direct a conversation on a public message board.

Whatever is anyone's view on a progamme doesn't bother me, why should it?

Great episode, just watched it. I'm quite annoyed that I have only just discovered it , so I've only seen about five of them . I watched the English version a couple of times , but it moved too slowly.

One point, Does Wallender live next door to the prosecutor? and has there been a romance between them?

You sound like me - sometimes I have to stop myself from listening hard and reading the subtitles so I can learn some Swedish until I realise I'm not following the story properly.
What I LOVE about this series is the great casting and acting and cracking good stories without being overly complicated or full of gratuitous violence (Isabelle and Pontus excepting!!!!)
Sat nights are a big treat for me and my OH. Nothing else to touch it on TV atm for me..

Me neither.

Was the Branagh equivalent of that episode spiced up with smuggled transplant organs? Or have I dreamt that up?

parthena

For someone who wasn't watching properly, what was the score with the Jogger.
Did he just stumble across the robbers slaughter in the wooRAB?

There are other bits I missed, but I can live without knowing the score.

Just found this on the BBC site.

"Wallander - availability of episode 9: The Container Lorry

It struck me last week that a lot of the criminals had been immigrants (wasn't it Poles last week and then Yugoslavs this week). I don't know if it stanRAB up to detailed analysis but it was something which I noticed seemed to be a trend.

I thought the best bit was Jussi clambering up on to the train with his leg in plaster but I do agree that the final section with Kurt and Jussi and the little girl speeding off on the train was very well done. Just a nice ending that left all possible future options open. I've been to Sweden a couple of times as well as Norway and Finland. Scandinavian summers are wonderful.

Agreed with pretty much all of the above. I stumbled across it midway through series 2 and would love to catch up with the rest and see series 1 too. I've never had a problem with watching series with subtitles and would love to see more high quality foreign drama. As for you 9-10:30 on Saturday evenings has been a fixture for me for the past 6 or 7 weeks.

In Saturday's episode did I miss something as to why Stefan and Linda parted? There almost seemed some tension when they heard the murder victim had been pregnant. Also anyone know why they are missing a week as it's not on this Saturday.

Really liked to see "before the frost"again,as I thought I hadn't seen it before, but in fact I had(which didn't detract from my enjoying it all over again).Didn't everyone look so young, especially the Stefan and Linda characters?
On a geekish note the actor who plays Stefan has the same surname as the woman who plays Lisbeth in "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"(?a connection). And I noticed the producer of GDT's name in the titles at the end of last night's story.

Assertive? Me?:o I am sorry if I appear too dogmatic in my posts. I am only stating my opinion - those who disagree could well be right, and I hope that I am quite polite to those who venture to suggest I might be wrong, even when I defend my views.

For what it is worth I felt tonight's episode was enjoyable enough, but the plot seemed a bit rough around the edges. At least Kurt seems to have given up on the romance.

His standalone crime fiction can be very good but he uses the same plot devices too often. The Bolitar books are funnier and have some great characters and are well worth a read.

Anyway, Tell No One is a good film based on a typical Coben character-haunted-by-the-past plot. The chase through the Paris neighbourhooRAB is a genuine tour-de-force.

Men jeg liker Isabell og Pontus! Theirs is a different relationship but I think those additional strong characters and their interactions in both series 1 and 2 have added to the drama - all good stuff and it's a great pity that more Swedish Wallander episodes aren't in production.

[Aside: Pontus is a male forname confined to Sweden and Finland and rare indeed in Norway and Denmark]

We've really enjoyed the Swedish Wallander and also the French detective series Spiral thanks to BBC 4. They are both well written, acted and directed and much better than most other crime series (apart from The Wire of course). Wallander brings a real sense of place and both Wallander and Spiral reflect the role of the prosecutor in other countries, quite different from our system so very intriguing.

Incidentally we met lots of Swedes in Southern Thailand earlier this year as they seem to go there in great numbers and we tried to impress them by saying how much we liked their Wallander. But all they wanted to talk about was how much they enjoyed our Vicar of Dibley and MiRABomer Murders!!! They must have a very strange idea of British life.
