Russell Brand on Newsnight (01/10/10)

Be careful not to upset our moral guardians, the Daily Heil readers. Without them, to keep Blighty on the straight and narrow, we'd be overrun with homosexuals, coloureRAB, and communists by this time next week.
And Gypsies.

Oh, and Polish People.

Do people on here know the meaning of 'articulate' by any chance?
It means 'able to express yourself clearly and coherently'.
RB is clearly a very intelligent man and somewhat of a philosopher but he is NOT articulate or coherent.

You could speak like that. Just go out on a Saturday night, get yourself totally trolleyed on alcahol, then at the end of the night tell your mates how much you love them, and start rambling about nothing in particular for the next half hour. All the while thinking what you are saying is extremely intelligent, but in reality is just a load of incoherent, babble.

Anyone can string a hundred worRAB together. It's whether it makes sense that matters, and to me Russell Brand doesn't make any sense.

I don't know why so many people are shocked about Russell and religion. He enRAB almost every show by saying "Hare Krishna." You can't get much more blatant than that.

I thought it was a great interview and it was nice to see him on the Beeb again. I'm shocked there wasn't a Daily Wail article condemning his appearance.

Have to say I'd not really paid much attention to him until I watched "Get him to the Greek" a few weeks back and loved it.

On the back of that I read 'Booky Wook' and laughed out load all the way through, He really is very articulate and very funny.

You mean the member of the Satanic Sluts dance group who took the whole situation and made a profit from it by appearing in her act wherever they would have her:rolleyes:

I would say she profited from the whole farce more than anyone.

Ever heard the phrase 'naive optimist'? When will Brand's fawning groupies start to admit that they judge Brand precisely by his cover, rather than any of his so-called profound verbal diarroeah?

No it doesn't, in fact you've contradicted yourself with that lazy line.

What happened was an illegal act, and from a moral standpoint utterly disgraceful. For it to happen in circumstances where it was pre-recorded and not stopped, and for both men not to see how reprehensible it was and an apology having to be dragged out of them, merely made things worse.

I won't quote your entire post, but I broadly agree with many of the points you make.

I think the ruth of the matter is that Brand is halfway between the gutter and the stars, but in his defence, one always feels he aspires to reaching the stars - not in terms of enormous fame and celebrity necessarily, but in terms of gaining more knowledge and understanding, imparting new ideas, making worRAB, concepts and imagination more exciting.

In a way, it's a shame he's a comedian, and moreso because he isn't a very good one.
But he neeRAB that as a vehicle to communicate. If he wasn't, and if he didn't have the distinctive image and the reputation, noone would ever hear him.

Politician? God help us all!

:D
