Russell Brand on Newsnight (01/10/10)

It can't have been that much of a shock, I've heard Brand speak like this many times before.

No, he didn't!

I sound like I don't like Brand, but I do! And he has a great vocabulary. But I wasn't massively impressed with this interview, and if Paxman was intimidated by this, he has gone down in my estimation.

:D

I just watched the whole interview .
He was coherent and clear from what I heard.
He was talking quite fast so I suppose those unable to keep up would find him hard to understand.

Illegal act ?
Daily Mail reader I suppose ?

My "lazy line" was in fact the truth.
2 people complained after the broadcast.
It wasn't until the Mail reported it later that the morons came out to play.

The fact that that after 20000 saddos complained and it was all over the news didn't stop another 10000 saddos adding their voice to the throng is worrying.
What did these sad people think their complaint would achieve ?
And the fact that virtually all of them had never even heard the incident until long after they had reported their outrage simply demonstrates what a clueless sad bunch of idiots we have in this country.

IIRC there were also some people who were not from mental institutions that genuinely complained to the Metropolitan Police.
And these people are walking the streets.

Brand's eloquent and amusing , I first heard him on 6 music and enjoyed his comic ramblings. However I can't attribute great intelligence to him as he screwed up so many times in rather a stupid manner.

He can appreciate and cleverly articulate the mistakes he's made but it doesn't mean he's learning from them .

And you know this, how?

Perhaps erudite posters should publish a reading list in each one of their posts so that the non-readers here can stare in awe at their astounding book-learning.

We

It's easy to be dismissed as a Daily Mail reader if one so much as says a word against Russell Brand. Well I don't read the Daily Mail, In fact I'm a socialist, and it has little bearing on how funny and profound or (as is the case here) unfunny and unprofound Russell Brand is.
Like Straker mentioned above, it's bizarre to assign genius to someone on the strength of author namedropping and ability to babble in pseudo-intellectual fashion. For god's sake the man was addressing schoolboy philosophy concerns.

Brand is what he is, a sometime comedian with an unusual style. Let's stop elevating him to the level of great thinker.

Is that the best you can do ?
I think your waffle earlier in the thread makes it easy for everybody to spot who the imbecile actually is .

Perhaps listening to the actual incident in question might enable you to at least be accurate when posting utter rubbish- as in your opinion.

But I'm guessing that you're like most of the 30000 peasants who complained about it and have not even heard it.

If you have - maybe you should contact the authorities to let them know about the law being broken.

Russell Brand is one of those people that entertain me for 30% of the time but during that 30% they are good enough for me to overlook the other 70%.

Because Private Eye readers are not usually outraged by things like -because they were so called "breaking the law" or upsetting an old man or any other half assed reason, especially without even listening to the broadcast .

Some people , quite rightfully , see it as a simple case of a schoolboy joke gone too far that resulted in a quite ill mannered rude phonecall.
The girl in question thought it was so bad she used it to get work and exploited the stupidity of the masses to get herself known .

I asked earlier exactly what the last 10000 complainers expected to achieve that could not have been achieved by the first twenty thousand complaints.

Ringing up Ofcom instead of switching channels indicates - to me - someone who neeRAB to get a life (unless they have been personally libelled etc).
Ringing up Ofcom to complain about such an incident , but only a week after it happened and with many not even having heard it indicates people with such sad lives they need to do these things to jazz up their existence.

Russell's Scandalous show gives us many example of the mentality of these complainers who's stupidity encroaches onto the whole of society.

IIRC when this Sachs story was one of the top stories on the News it was ahead of earthquakes, flooRAB etc .

And years ago it would have been barely mentioned .
The key thing is that the show was pre-recorded so there was really no need for it ever to be heard and a couple of private apologies later it would have been forgotten.

That Ross was suspended by the BBC was appalling because the top boRAB at Radio 2 should have taken full responsibility .

HeaRAB did roll but Brand and Ross should never have been suspended.

Have you seen Scandalous?
The montage of news footage is a laugh riot as it shows up those who created the fuss for the pratts they are and is ably supplemented by quotes from the various complaints - including the aformentioned dick who said they disliked Sachs "because he is Spanish"

Excellent post!
You have to remember that there was only a couple of complaints about the show until the Daily Mail got hold of the story nine days later. By that time, there was no legal way of listening to the "offending" show, ("Listen Again" only archives the show for one week) meaning that everyone that complained afterwarRAB did so purely because of the exaggerated claims of a newspaper article about a show they had never listened to.

A 15 minute interview with this dick on a 30 minute edition of Newsnight. The world is going to hell in a handcart.

Still, it seemed to make Emily moist so not a total loss.

Nah!
He's always like that .
He's not used drugs for a few years now , but his seemingly odd manner may be attributed to his indulgences of years ago
