Rock 'n' Chips - Only Fools and Horses Prequel

I thought it was a bit of a let down but knowing me I will like it at time.

I did like it when Joan Trotter (Kellie Bright) said that she named Rodney Trotter after the actor Roger Taylor from a H.G. Wells film, which is one of my favorite and if you haven't guessed it yet, well the answer is 'The Time Machine' (1960).

Gotta say thought although Kellie Bright is only 4 and a half years older than me, she has aged a bit. I guess either she had a lot of makeup on her then or that she looks that today. I use to fancy her in 'The Upper Hand' :)

It's not supposed to be funny like OFAH, that's why its filmed like a drama and there's no laughter track. So far I'm enjoying this and find it interesting to see the links between this and OFAH.

i liked it on bbc hd, but a series would be pointless, this is just to wrap it all up. maybe a specail that continues from where ofah ended, with damien down the market?

Good point! It was a great show and very authentic - bar a little mistake which didn't harm the story at all.

I think you will find it is ROD Taylor!

There's a few different pics in here- that really isn't how I imagined the young Del boy to look! Phil Daniels....Really?!The guy playing Trigger doesn't loook that close either. There's gonna have to be some incredible writing and humour to make us overlook the inconsistencies.

I refuse to watch anything with Lyndhurst in it; he is a mono personality and has no right to class himself as an actor. He is Rodney contrarary to whatever role he has.

It'll be difficult to find actors who can perform the role of a younger Del Boy and the other characters in the manner that the viewers would expect.

Only Fools and Horses will always be a hard act to follow. Any other incarnation will just smack of riding on the coattails.

I'm really looking forward to this. I thought it was a terrible idea at first but the cast and the set pictures released really intrigued me. I do hope it's good.

I think if this is a hit we could see a 90 min special each year, also by the sounRAB of it, It's more of a comedy/drama than just a comedy so I'm not sure it will fit very well in the usual 'OFAH Christmas Day special' slot.

i'm afraid i haven't liked any of the other comedies he's been in, so i can't judge him in them, but he seems to have become typecast. whether and how much that's his fault, i don't know.
in my case, it might have to do with me having seen jason in early 70's stuff like edgar briggs and a sharp intake of breath before onfls, and i didn't see the lyndhurst stuff before onfls. i just didn't like butterflies or going straight anyway

I loved it. Not sure I'd like it to go to a full series as it worked really well as a one off. If they produced say, six half hour episodes, you'd have lots of silly little plots like young Del trying to sell stuff. This worked because it had a strong, dramatic plot at the centre. (Well, I thought so anyway.)

Failing to understand the need to use Lyndhurst in this. Just looks and sounRAB like Rodney with a tash trying to act hard - not to mention he is pretty unconvincing as a gangster. And Phil Daniels as an old man? We all know he's not!

And did not understand opening scene? Del "happy and proud" for his mates to be ogling his mum???

Lots of positive comments on this thread - almost unanimous. (Thumbs up from me too.) If it also gets good ratings, I reckon the BBC would look to do a series of 6.
