Rock 'n' Chips - Only Fools and Horses Prequel

Not sure about this programme.

I seem to be watching in anticipation of something to happen somehow?

( like a laugh or a plot !! )

s'pose thats not the point tho:(

He's done a lot of stuff over the years but 'The Two of us' and 'After you've gone' would blight any cv. He's no Olivier or Gielgud that's for sure.:p

I'm looking forward to this but I hope it's not another 'The Green Green Grass'.

And I really can't take to the name, even the new shortened one. Even something like 'Young Del' would have been better.

Still, I wish it luck and hope it'll be fun.

I enjoyed it overall. I thought it was a bit lacking in comedy moments and was just a bit "too drama" for a prequel to the nation's most-loved comedy show, but it didn't spoil it for me.

A nice little "coda" to the OFAH story - but please, no more - don't spoil it.

Of course, this only worked if Trig in 1985 was meeting Rodney for the first time. It seems highly unlikely that one of Del's best mates would never have met his 25 year old kid brother. (Sorry, this is something I've kept pointing out to those near and dear to me for about 15 years...)

I dont think this was ever going to be a side-splitting comedy. Its a drama telling a story with a few laughs thrown in. As such I think it was a very well done-the actress playing Joan was excellent and it had a real period feel to it.
There is definitely room for more imo.

I have a bad feeling about this.

I feel that some things, like Del & Rodney's mum (who of course said so many things on her death bed!) are best left off-screen and to the imagination.

It might be good, and I'm sure I'll watch, but I'm sceptical.

Sullivan was not happy with this episode, feeling that it seemed to show Del Boy in a negative light. Whereas Del was always seen to be a lovable rogue, in this episode, there were some scenes where he came over as boorish and offensive.
This episode was originally broadcast with no studio laughter. A subsequent repeated version exists with an added laughter track, but was heavily edited for future DVD and TV broadcasts.
