Rock 'n' Chips - Only Fools and Horses Prequel

Thing is, in the last episode of OFAH we saw a picture of Freddie the Frog, and it was Nick Lyndhurst with a moustache, so I guess they had to follow on from that.

N Lyndhurst is only Rodney, he cannot be cast as anyone else, as he is a character, only one, RODNEY it will be good to see how the jigsaw puzzle of freddie the frog, joan and the rest will come together, you must remember that OFAH is a british icon, and that is a stone fact, it cannot be changed, this is just a dvd extra:)

I thought it was pretty good. As for there being no Uncle Albert, there was Grandad prior to Uncle Albert - who appeared later as Grandad's brother - so that was authentic.

I didn't think much about the style of underground train. If they were going for 100% authenticity, there would have been no underground near them at Peckham anyway - and there was a never a "Borough of Peckham".

However it was pretty authentic. I was a kid in those days and I remember.

What confuses me is that in the OFAH episode 'Thicker Than Water' there is reference to Joan becoming friendly with a muscian from the LeCarno club just before she announced she was expecting Rodney and so people suspected he might have been Rodney's father... Well where was that guy? And what's the LeCarno club??

Wonder if they'll have the odd racist remark to make it seem more real to the time what with immigration affecting the inner cities back then? Of course not. I only mention it because I remember how in the first series Del or Rodney would say the odd racist word which even in 1980 seemed a bit close (but still got laughs from the studio audience) and which are now deleted on repeats. Whether you liked Alf Garnett or not John Sullivan wasn't writing as cleverly as Johnnie Speight and used some disgraceful language.

Going by picture 10 assuming one of them is Denzil one of Boycie or Trigger has changed colour:D

I can see how the younger versions could become the older ones.

I think if they go down the route of actually telling the story of what happened with Freddy Robdul and Joan at that time rather than going for straight laughs sitcom style it will work. Nicholas Lyndhurst is an excellent actor and James Buckley is a really good choice for Del.

i caught a clip from this on BBC breakfast and i hate to tell you, it looked awful

terribly acted [the actor who plays grandad is a joke], and poor scripts.

it is the new GGG, you heard it here first

The fact there's no laughing audience/laughing track, isn't doing the programme any favours.

a laughing audience always helps.

That is absolute rubbish. Rodney Trotter and Gary Sparrow (Goodnight Sweetheart) are two completely different, well acted characters. And that is quite literally the first example off the top of my head. Nick Lyndhurst has been in some right old crap, I'll grant you, but that's down to poor choices from himself and his agent. As an actor, he is actually very very good.
