Revival of the Moon Kingdom: Sailor Moon relicensed in Italy

I guess this mean Naoko finally made peace with Toei. Anyway If we do get a dub from Funi, I wonder if they will keep Sailor Moon's american name? I always did like Serena better than Usagi.

Wow, that's excellent news. It actually escaped licensing hell. Goes to show that sometimes, yes, the unlikely does happen.

At the very least, maybe we'll actually get the manga licensed again at this rate.

I don't care about the names, just keep the original music, and the original storylines, and in some cases original genders and sexual oriendations and I am all set.

Also make the dubs sound more professional, the Sailor Moon dubs sounded like fan dubs to me. The audio quality was very low, though I guess for its time it was okay.

It is, but it's worth noting the wording of the Toei rep's statement in the report (emphasis mine):

As I understand it the franchise has been largely dormant of late period, so it's a good sign that anything is happening at all. Would I put hopes on news this year? No, not necessarily. But at least now there's a reasonable hope of something eventually happening for English-speaking fans.

Minako was always my fave... I'd love to see Naoko Takeuchi restart the manga or do a special limited series showing how how Crystal Tokyo comes to be created in the future.

Of course with how the manga ended she could simply just pick up where she left off (doubt it tho so I'd just be happy with seeing Crystal Tokyo stuff) heh

Well how about that? Looks like Toei finally released the death lock. FUNimation is the clear choice for bringing Sailor Moon back to the US but they already have several massive properties and may not be willing to take on Sailor Moon as well. Not when they can't seem to get anything on TV lately.

I hope they rereleased the manga. Hopefully with the original names, the original extras, and in a traditional Japanese manga size book back to front like it should be.

I know I am dreaming, but would love for them to release Codename: Sailor V for the first time in North America.

That's certainly surprising. I didn't think that Toei would ever let go of Sailor Moon, but they finally did. Funimation does have a better shot to get this series now, which would be pretty cool. I remeraber watching a few episodes from the first series when it aired on Cartoon Network, but I wasn't too impressed with it. I wouldn't mind seeing a redub of the series to see if I would be interested in it.

That's a valid point. Even though they haven't been able to get some of their bigger shows on TV, they still do really well on DVD, such as One Piece and all of the Dragon Ball Z sets. Considering how they've treated some of Toei's other series and helped made them successful in the U.S., I could see Funimation not having a problem with getting another big series. I'm sure that quite a few people would be interested in any sets they would release.

I really could care less about this news(and hope funimation does not waste their money on this) but it makes my sister really really happy as that is really the only anime she likes.

My inner fanboy is fired up!!

I knew today would be a good day, worRAB cannot express how happy I am, I never thought I'd see the day TOEI would release the death lock on Sailor Moon, and of course Italy's a good place to start.

And if FUNimation does license the SM franchise and gets a proper dub, I'm hoping all the names, terms, music and everything else are left intact
(because honestly, everytime I hear the dub mentioned, nightmares of my childhood reawaken, although Megami's SMA is an exception)
