Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

Yes, yes you are.

So... I'm listening to the R2 soundtrack and really liking it a lot. One thing that Geass has been consistently good with through both seasons is its music, I think.

And the more I listen to "World End," the more I like it more than "Colors" and "O2." Go figure.

But fanservice hasn't taken the place of plot in Code Geass. The plot is moving at quite a fast pace. Lelouch now has most of the Chinese Federation as allies and we got some sherly development and now Lelouch is going to have to face Orange-Kun again. So whats all the whining about? Even in this goofy episode there was still enough plot development to get you excited for the next episode.

Alright, I am going to do a review for the episode now, and then a series review sometime this week.

Wow. This episode was ridiculously intense. The fight between Suzaku and Kallen was as awesome as I had expected. I like that they went on the ground for a good part of it also, as this seemed to be forgotten in R2. Although Gino said Kallen "won" I think it is clear that the battle was pretty much a tie.

And damn, I did not expect Orange to get such a kickass battle. He had a robot inside a robot and then a cyborg inside a robot, you can't get much more kickass than that. I am glad that he got rid of Anya's geass, it was a nice touch. Orange working in an Orange field? Who would have thought.

Lelouch and Nunally confrontation was done very well. I liked how he threw away everything for the sake of the world, he truly was a hero.

Lelouch's death. Wow. I rarely cry in anime and this had me going. When Nunally was crying out for her brother, damn, I just couldn't take it. His speech with Suzaku was beautiful, and I liked how C.C. cried for him.

And I don't think Lelouch is dead. The main reasoning is because C.C. is talking with him. We know she talked with Marianne, VV and Charles, but once VV died that stopped, and the same with Marianne and Charles, so she must be talking with an alive Lelouch.

And while it seems only a limited amount of people knew about his plan, I think a good bit did.

Todoh, Kallen, Lloyd, Cecile, Sayoko, Kaguya (since she knew his true nature), and possibly a few more.

A great end to a great series.

I will truly miss Geass =(

9/10 for the episode.

She would just get angry, if she truely felt betrayed by zero shes the type to shoot. She in love and we have an endless list of dere dere moments. They are not just fanservice moments. Mark my worRAB, she will confess her love and maybe even still a kiss.

Its been said (at least thats what I read) that the creators that a convention have said that they were debeating whether or not to give a Kallen and Lelouch kiss in season 1. Its been rumored the that kiss was left for season 2 since they didn't want to form a love triangle in season 1 (to keep the focus on the rebellion, lelouch's love interests were kept on the side lines for season 1). Rumor has it that his love interests will be more explored this season.

I think in general there's alot R2 did wrong. I'm not it's biggest fan but season one at least had alot of clear characters and themes to be explored. Undoubtedly the worst thing R2 did was adding so many new characters, some who were pretty much just there to die. Alongside that, Lelouch becoming Emperor in such an easy coup and bringing Suzaku with him. Geass is often compared to a game of chess...in that case, that twist was basically completely changing the games rules. The Knights of Round were already a poorly developed, underused concept. Lelouch doing away with them and pretty much giving Suzaku what he wants just made that rather key subplot utterly useless. Really, it was a lazy way to create a team up. I think the way the story was going they should have just stuck on opposing paths rather than force this lazy twist on the story.

Seriously, Sunrise. Get some priorities.

Now all we need is for Drugzaku to scream out:

"Lelouchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

The big question now is which is better: a moe C.C. or a tsundere C.C? The Internets will explode over this question.

Argh, nasty. Make sure safesearch is turned on.

Random Curiosity posts lots of screenshots. Alternatively, download media player classic and take your own. All you do is pause and you can save the image you've stopped on, its incredibly easy.

On another note, does anyone feel like Suzaku's just another character these days? Besides the Nunally issue, he hasn't seemed to be as big a presence as he was in season 1. Maybe that's inevitable with the likes of Schneizel around.

/saw that.

But one thing that has been confirmed is that Lelouch will be facing the Emperor in 15, we just don't know how.

And you know what? I'm proud of Sunrise for this, it is awesome.

Well, 00 wasn't just buildup, at least no more than the Fellowship of the Ring was just build up for The Two Towers and The Return of the King. There's plenty of story even as it builRAB toward something greater. So far as characters go, did you make it through season 1? There's actually some really great characterization going on, especially for the lead pilot Setsuna.

Well, yeah, I think we can agree on that. There's a reason I made fun of that episode.

So? If Brittania is a happy smillely, fair and free nation, we would have no grounRAB for a Rebellion and the entire TV show would be pointless.

You don't argue against watching Star Wars movies just because the galaxy was ruled by a Sith Lord and over-run with Stormtroopers, do you?

"Oh, the Star Wars universe is ran by a Psychotic mass murderer! We musn't watch it!"

And Racism is just one of the many issues in Britannian society. And it was never shown to be positive, so what's the complaint?
(If you are complaining about stereotyping, let me point out that the Japanese was made into stereotypes as well. Hence all the "Banzai" being thrown around.)

Oh I give up.

Its just hard for me to believe that an episode full of Kallen fanservice, Milly exhibition, Nina insanity and Loli-con action is ruined by a "bad" chess scene.

And why hasn't there been more comments on Milly? I think Loyd has more interest in women than we think considering he was parading Milly around to show off his trophy.

Now, it was a very nice way to develop the chinese sword guy, (why could we get an easier name to remeraber). And it was a good set up for next week, an action pack episode.

Also, finnaly we did see the second prince in action, a true intellectual rival to Lelouch.

Oh, crap. Another TV guide spoiled 23. And you're not going to believe it. It's facepalmingly ridiculous. I'm not going to post it because it's too much of a twist, but DAMN. It'll probably show up on Wikipedia later, so don't check there.

Lelouch got royally screwed here. Schneizel is one evil bastard.

Given season 1's finale and the season 2 opening, I think LeLouch and C.C. are a pair. Shirley has an outside chance of being a love interest after all. But in any case, LeLouch has the strongest connection with C.C. Whether that connection turns out to be truly romantic or not isn't what's important. Their fates are linked, and they both know it. Kallen may be loyal and LeLouch may consider her an ally or even a friend of sorts, but there's no doubt about who LeLouch considers his true and most trusted partner. Kallen definitely wants that level of trust, but LeLouch has never confided in her the way he has with C.C. He never will.

As I see it Kallen helped rescue LeLouch for two reasons: she wanted to know the truth about how Geass was used on her and she knew Zero was the only hope for Japan's independence. Without that dependency, I really doubt she'd take a chance on trusting him again.
