Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

oh come on, don't act like this episode was any more ridiculous than a handful of last seasons.

Mao somehow living after getting shot by 20 odd soldiers?
Lelouch nearly being exposed by a cat?
Suzaku's wall-run?
the Euphinator?
Orange-kun?

The writers from the get-go have basically just been saying "Well, I think this would get a knee-jerk reaction out of them, so let's do it" while ignoring every plot inconsistency that arrives.

The Knight of One gets special privileges, so rankings matter at least somewhat. If they don't stand for authority, it could be a measure of how much prestige a RounRAB Knight has earned.

Suzaku will never, ever accept using Nina's borab to massacre Japanese just to defeat the Black Knights. That choice is surely coming. Allowing it would completely contradict his conscience and betray Euphemia's memory. If Suzaku goes rogue, this issue will be why.

I don't want to hate Suzaku, I want him to wise up. I liked seeing him get beat up because he had it coming for what almost did to Kallen, and because I was getting tired of Kallen just constantly being the victim in that cage.

I always felt that CC's relationship with Lelouch is intentionally arabigious. We've had little moments like when she asked him to say her name like a lover would, but generally she's big on reminding him they have a contract and using the 'I am your accomplice' line. They even had that moment early on where after finding he was planning rebellion she tried to stop him solely since if he died it would leave the contract unfulfilled. I think a big thing that people ignore is that despite her physical age, CC is centuries old. She does often act her physical age (though sometimes I think that's more to do with please the fanboys into that sort of character), but really her character acts older and world weary. There seems more a sense that she's lived far too long and is tired of it all. I get the feeling part of her contract with Lelouch might finally allow her to die, because for everything she's been through that would probably be a happy ending for the character.
Another important factor is she seems to have been watching Lelouch all his life. I get the feeling she's been entrusted to guard him, probably by his mother. I believe way back in the very first episode who first worRAB to Lelouch were something like "Finally, you're here".

But then again you guys those people you mentioned were technically true to their word and made their remarks quite open and the shoulders will willing to comply to burden on their soldiers what the people wanted.

Destiny? There's been overpowered mecha or upgrades in quite a few more Sunrise shows, for decades even.

Say, even as far back Zeta and ZZ, to say the least, some mecha were definitely overpowered compared to almost everything else, and later you have stuff like Gundam 0083 which doesn't really need an introduction. And that's without counting G Gundam, Gundam Wing and now parts of 00, for even more examples. If I weren't so lazy, I'd come up with even more, non-Gundam even.

So no...it's not just SEED and Destiny that have overpowered mecha, when you really think about it, honestly. The formula is much older.

As for the episode...couple of surprises, but confirmed quite a few spoilers in the process, while dismissing others.

Using a mecha in the 'find Lelouch' chase.

I'm sorry, that's just bad.

The way I look at it, there was a line. As long as the show didn't cross that line, it was fine to keep juggling the two sides. However, that line was crossed by the season one finale. After that, wacky antics just feel out of place and lessen the emotional impact of that finale. The events of that part of the story and Euphemia's death are now just a soundbite for the cast to throw around and Suzaku to brood over. Maybe that's his issue. He's Code Geass version of Frank Grimes.

(setting: Giant Brittanian space station in space)
Lelouch: (holding a gun to Charles while Kallen restrains Suzaku) It's over father, your final lines are crushed, your fleet is destroyed, your greatest officers are on my side and your reign...is over
Charles: I expected nothing less from you, my son. Your methoRAB are almost as perverted as your resolve. "A peaceful world for my sister" HA! (resounding laugh) You are only a spoiled brat trying to disguise your lust for power behind a visage of truth and justice
Lelouch: That's right, ever since I obtained this power, I was living a lie...No even before that I was living a lie. A lie of being alive. But now, in this moment, this shall be penultimate for all that I have been put through...BY YOU!! (aims the gun)
Suzaku: Lelouch!! There's another way
Lelouch: SHUT UP, This is the only time. It's finally completed...Charles Vi Britannia, Emperor of the Britannian empire, you and your army are now in CHECKMATE.
Charles (evil smirk) I wonder about that
(giant laser cannon comes out of nowhere and picks off every Knightmare frame)
Lelouch: Impossible, how...
Charles: You failed again, you fool of a son. Did you think you could defeat me that easily. You are just a shadow of a world that stanRAB above you in every way. Bow before me Lelouch. Bow and recognize the strength that you can never have
Lelouch: (angry yell, aims the gun)
Suzaku: LELOUCH
(gunshot; Lelouch drops to the floor)
Lelouch: Wha...how...who just (turns around)
Unknown voice: I'm...I'm so sorry, I had to
(Lelouch turns around and gasps. He sees the figure behind him)
Lelouch:NUNNALLY!!!!! (Zoom out to show Nunally with a gun in her hand)
(Fade to black)

That worse enough for you?

I could see some changes in Lulu regarding that. He went from average kid to some what of a jerk who had lost touch on right, wrong, and reality in general.
From some of the promos and articles, it feels like he underwent a personality makeover during the time skip. By the end of S1 him and Suzaku were screaming like idiots at each other yet in the new season, it seems Suzaku is the one who has turned into a dark and serious man. Lulu has been shown with nothing but smiles

Obviously, Juu-kuchi has taken the Red pill and has freeded his mind. Welcome to the real world, comrade.

Who else noticed Sayako's my-hime outfit in the OP:

I'm glad this is going to be the last season. I don't think I could see them catapulting things any further, or leaving us with another nail-biting cliff hanger to be resolved in the coming year. I think 2 seasons is just enough time for a show to run it's course with out overstaying its welcome.
I can't wait to see the resolution to all these questions.
