Rebirth of the Rebellion - Code Geass R2 Talkback (SPOILERS)

Also while we could (and probably should) condemn Geass for its needless resurrection of characters, at the very least they kept Euphie dead. It helps because while Suzaku's actions and thoughts are somewhat driven by her death, it wasn't like she was talking to him beyond the grave waxing about what she believes is the case or what Suzaku should do and giving him lectures. Thankfully it's only the memory and her worRAB past that Suzaku can only fall back upon, and never anything else in regarRAB to situations that even she would not have foreseen.

This makes me wonder though if there's a market for anime bracelets with either the initials "W.W.E.D?" and "W.W.L.D?"
 
My ranking of Geass OP's:

1. Colors by Flow
2. O2 by Orange Range
3. Hitomi no Tsubasa by Access (used for the 24-25 season 1 special)
4. World End by Flow
5. Kaidoku Funou by Jinn

Basically, for both seasons, the first time was the charm. Forget Ali Project, Kaidoku Funou was nothing but a barrage of noise and a huge letdown after Colors. World End is actually growing on me all of the time but I think Colors and O2 are just too good, and Hitomi no Tsubasa grabbed me from the first time I heard and saw it. It made me wish they had used it for half a season in the first place.
 
Meh, Geass and 00 both had good pacing. Sure, 00 had some episodic episodes, but so did Geass in the middle. Nothing wrong with that, in either case they helped flesh things out and were entertaining. Not every episode has to be an arc episode.

I don't want to dive into a full blown racism discussion again, but that is something I like about Jeremiah's story. He gets screwed by Zero, but personally I saw something poetic in how his life was ruined by the same elitist, pureblood ideology he was clinging to.



I can't argue with that. At best Suzaku may have had ideals but saw no actual path to achieving them, and so to his mind the best he could do was die a sacrificial death. Your contrast with LeLouch is very good observation.

Believe me, I agree. While I don't think Suzaku's rhetoric is totally empty, I think Suzaku is wrong and tyranny has to be fought, especially in this case when there's no chance of the Emperor changing his ways. While he doesn't get focus, Todoh is one of my favorite characters because he's one of the few rebels that are untainted and wielding formidable military skill.
 
Because in some series it's the ending that matters immensely. The series has for the majority part had a lot of ups and a lot of downs, but at the end of the day we expect some heartfelt denouement that all the things that had happened in the series was for something. Maybe this is just a first impression of what I saw in initial screencaps, but that is what I feel at the current moment.

What I'm worried about is the naysayers that have been prophesying an inevitably horrible end. I have some pessimistic outlook that one of them will come up on this board and say "OMG you actually had FAITH that this series would end well? You're a *#@*$@# moron! Ho hee ho hee ho!"
 
Er, right, I was just talking in terms of why Saji and Louise work at least as well as Shirley. They're being sent down a road and, unlike Shirley, they haven't reached the end of the journey yet.

Also, I wouldn't be so quick to identify Zero as evil. He'll be out for blood though, no doubt about that.
 
I don't know about evil. The way I see it it's more of Lelouch pursuing a good goal through extremely flawed means, which he's been doing since the very beginning. He strikes me a tragic figure, as I think that by now he doesn't know how to act any other way than as a deceiver.

Samantha, I can't really get into the "common enemy" theory simply because it's Schneizel who is the common enemy as it is. If true, I think it's foolish. Why didn't he tell the world about his suspicions of Schneizel? Even if they didn't believe him, what did he have to lose by trying honesty?
 
o.O I'd laugh if the emperor turned out to be part Japanese. Or his mother could be part Japanese but I doubt that. I must be the only one that took that speech to mean you could be Japanese even if not by blood as long as you adopt the culture. Then the speech makes sense coming from foreigner.

Am I really all alone on this one.
 
No. I think they are going to put that storyling to rest soon, and then Lelouch will have to decide...

Is he going to take responsibility for his actions and take down this corrupt empire, or is he simply going to settle finally knowing the truth, whatever that may be.

They could put it off, and have the war now, which may be exactly what happens, but I can't see the last big battle being 20, or 19, whichever.

Or perhaps this is just what I want, I want to know if he is man enough to accept the road he has taken and do something just for the sake of doing the right thing, not for revenge, not for Nunally, etc.
 
Just finished watching. Well, any worry that this show was going to borab at the ending is gone. They managed to fit in plenty of exciting corabat, my hime LIVES!, I'd say its official that a C.C.XLelouch ending is what we are getting, and we are left with Kallen vs Susaku and Nanully vs Lelouch for the final episode. Looks like the people that guess that the final boss would be Nanully were correct.

And its was hilarious when Lelouch told Diethard that he was unworthy of dieing while geassed.

Best series, err no. I say Code Geass ranks around Eureka 7. Its a bit rushed and too many characters running around to properly develop but I enjoyed the ride. And they both have exciting endings. One episode to go but I'm full confidant I'll enjoy it.
 
But that really clashes with reality based on what I have observed. While I can live in Japan I can NEVER be Japanese, just some gaijin if my memory serves correctly. I'd probably have an easier time becoming a Belgian than I can becoming a Japanese.
 
Well, he did that out of self-preservation. He was obviously wrecked with guilt over Euphemia, but he couldn't very well explain that the reason she went on a murdering rampage was because of his secret ability to make people do whatever he wants--oh, and by the way, it was completely by accident. The truth would have destroyed both him and the rebellion, and in reality it probably wouldn't have changed a thing.

What the heck? Kicking Lelouch? Spouting nonsense about Euphie again? At least Lelouch is man enough to admit it was his fault, but you don't have to act like some pompous ******. (Is that word allowed here?)

And at the same time...

More GinoxKallen shipping, if only so subtle, yay!

And then Suzaku and Lelouch almost make-up? Not sure, but either way Lelouch was pissed about the situation.

Wow. His method of breaking out was...brilliant. I loved it when he got that cocky look back in his eyes, I couldn't stand it when he was acting pathetic.

Okay. My hate for Suzaku has increased 10-Fold...

He is considering using the Freya against Lelouch. Wow. I hope he realizes what the borab will do, and what the consequences are that bastard.

And...done for now...

Edit, I lied. I want to comment on one more thing that I have been wanting. Forever...

Haha. Schneizel thought he was smarter than Lelouch by covering up his Geass but Lelouch was one step ahead.

And Sam. Please don't go crazy. It's slightly scary.
