Potc 2

that annoyed me cos you couldnt really buy the 2nd one without having to buy the third one and watch it right after cos you wouldn't see the whole story

Kinda like the Star Wars triolgy, or Lord of the Rings, or Back to the Future, or Kill Bill. The list could go on. There's lots of films where the story doesn't end when the film enRAB. You also don't have to watch the next one immediately after to enjoy it (I tried that with LotR and that was onw hell of a tiring day!)

Truth is, some people like films that continue on into the next one. It means we can get longer, more epic stories. The alternative is that the film is 4 hours long and I'm sure we'd all prefer two, shorter, interconnected films than one so long you'd surely keel over and die before the end.

I have to say I would have been disappointed in PotC2 had just been another stand-alone movie.

I cant wait to see Pirates Of The Caribbean 2 when it is released on the 6th July. I have seen quite a few trailers for it in the cinema but I hadnt seen any on the TV yet untill last night when I was watching the football and they showed one. I loved the first film and just hope that the sequel is just as good especially as there is a third film coming out in Summer 2007!

It is, it kicks arse!

Go in there expecting the best, and you will come out thinking what you think is best is actually crapola compared to PotC2.

Can't wait for PotC3 now, bring it on!

Cant say I was a big fan of the 1st one im afraid its a Johnny Depp thing! **ugh** he can turn a perfectly good story line into a film id avoid like the plague...

I just want to see 'Cars' lol (am old enough to know better young enough to pretend)

I liked it, but not nearly as much as the first film. I can only echo what most say here...too long by about 20 mins. Alot of that scene setting stuff could be cut. I also don't like the route they are going down with Jack and Elizabeth - he shouldn't have a love interest, it ruins it. Elizabeth should still be a semi-major character and should stay with Will, otherwise what would the point of Will be?

Anyhow, overall I'd say 8/10.

I thought it was fanstastic. Great character development, had me in hysterics at parts (mainly the wheel). And so frustrating having to wait for the next one!

The cinema's must be expecting this to do big business. The odeon in Leicester is showing it every half an hour from 10:30am. Must be about four or five screens. How long is the movie?

I've booked my ticket for 5:30pm on Thursday. I shall report back my findings. I'm a bit worried now that with all this excitment I'm going to be let down.

I can't wait to see this film either. I'm really excited. Which is unusual for me, I'm not a habitual cinema goer. I'm even thinking about pre-booking tickets for this. Which for me is really huge.

SounRAB like this will be one of the biggest openings ever in terms of number of screens. As I said earlier my local cineworld have it on 3 of their 6 screens, something they have never done before, not even for Harry Potter or LOTR films.

Yeah this one looks great. Always have been a big Johnny Depp fan.

From what I know of the story this one looks like it enRAB on a cliffhanger to resolved in the 3rd one next year. Shame they can't be six months apart rather than 12 really.

Did everyone else here see a different movie?

It was not nearly as good as the first one. Jonny Depp was the best thing in it and even he wasn't as good.

And I can't stand movies that don't end. The middle part of a trilogy should still stand as a film in its own right.

I'm taking my mum to see it on Sunday (yup, when the WC final is on!). My local cineworld is 12 screens and is managing to start a new showing once every 45 mins. For a 2hr 30 mins film, that is going to require a lot of screens.

Yeah it does seem a long time between the 2nd and 3rd film as I also thought it would be 6 months like with the Matrix films!
Appartently also the 2nd film links in with parts of the first film as well. I am sure I read that they are filming both the 2nd and 3rd film back to back though!
Also I just read that Johnny Depp has said that he would be interested in doing more Pirates films after the 2nd and 3rd films. He said "He's a blast to play, I'll be in a deep, dark depression saying goodbye to him. I'll keep the costume and just prance around the house, entertain the kiRAB. Maybe 'Pirates 4, 5 and 6'. If they had a good script, why not? I mean, at a certain point, the madness must stop, but for the moment, I can't say that he's done". Also apparently the first media screenings for the 2nd film are going to take place in the next few days so we should have some reviews for it!

Saw it today. Thought it was good in parts (the wheel thing was very clever), but really felt that it could have had a half an hour or more taken out - it really dragged at times - it wouldn't have mattered to the plot because that was all over the place anyway (there's little or no proper explanation as to how they keep finding each other/ bumping into each other in such a vast space).

I like Johnny Depp but the Captain Jack Sparrow pantomime routine is getting a little stretched and poor Orlando Bloom could do with finding a second emotion. Kiera Knightly was fine if a little surly.

MacKenzie Crook and that other guy were very funny - nice casting and well played by both of them.

Bill Nighy was really good too, and of course you can't fault the CGI other than to say that there was maybe a little too much of it.

So probably worth going to see but could have done with tighter editing.

I won't be holding my breath for the next instalment but will probably go to see it just to find out what happens.

Jack and Elizabeth aren't in love, they're in lust - they're kind of fascinated with each other and clearly there's some chemistry but I'm certain she'll end up with Will. Elizabeth craves freedom and Jack gives her that whilst being married to Will may seem like a bind to her. In the end she'll come to realise how much she loves him though and I'm sure we'll see a wedding...

Or maybe they'll save that for the fourth film which Bruckheimer and Depp both saying is a serious prospect at this stage. :D
