Pokemon Movie 13- Ho-oh Vs. Lugia?

Pokemon SHOULD continue? Define "Pokemon" I'm of the opinion that the Pokemon franchise as a whole should end sometime soon. Maybe a fifth generation can come out, but then that should be it. Nintendo will run out of ideas of what games/remakes/whatever to make just like they're running out of ideas (and creativity) for the actual pokemon.

It's certainly not what I want but it's what I've come to expect. As long as new games are made, new anime seasons are made, and I don't have the faith in the anime team that makes me think that they're going to change things. So yeah, if Ash, Brock, and a random expendable female coordinator are still travelling and fighting Team Rocket by the year 2020, I won't be too surprised.

I believe in a Pokemon with new characters too. But it never happens with the anime. They could've very well ended Ash's story back when he finally beat Gary but they didn't. They simply cannot bring themselves to get rid of Ash and Pikachu even when stuff like the Special manga and the games themselves change main characters all the time!

People from the West when they think of God they think of monotheism mostly because of Christianity and their single god.

For that reason its hard for them to accept the term god in a more generic way.

What about him? I highly doubt he'll take over considering that he started his journey around the same time as Ash. Besides the Pikachu in question has to look normal.

Dictionary.com defines 'God' as...

1.the one Supreme Being, the creator and ruler of the universe.

Which is essentially what Arceus is in the Pokemon universe, right? So, in that sense Arceus is 'God,' just...in the world that Pokemon exist.

I'm up for seeing Sparky again even if he's a Raichu. To me I don't care what Pikachu looks like in the near future. I wouldn't mind seeing Ritchie trying to be like Ash in a new series.

Arceus forbid people should voice their opinion on a franchise's development.

Uh...yeah, but that's being oddly limited to just that one definition. Who cares about what Dictionary.com says when cultures perceive concepts in different ways?

Besides, only about 2% of the Japanese population identifies themselves as Christian. Having a "creator" pokemon not be the Christian God isn't all that weird when you consider the fact that the overwhelming majority of the people who work on this franchise in Japan aren't Christian.

Besides, all of the (Japanese) Pokedex entries say that the idea of Arceus creating the world is a myth. It's not a hard fact.

I was shocked when I read this thread, Ho-Ho and Lugia? What is this a battle over who is more important to Ash? Now lets thorw in MewTwo and than we have some thing
But let me draw it out for you guys who says Ash is leaving, the people in Japan who work on Pokemon said Ash and Pikachu are not going any where as long as the series goes on. If the series/games keeps making money than it will keep going on. At least that's what the people who work on the show said. I wonder if Macey will return? It'd be sooo funny if she did LOL. She was one of the characters from the Jhoto series that said she'd be back for that date right? If they do go back there, now would be the perfect time to bring her in.

The anime franchise is kind of stuck, considering Pikachu is the mascot of Pokemon, and not having it by the main character's side would feel pretty weird. If they replaced Ash with another character who had a Pikachu, I reckon fans would also feel weird about it.

A shame, since Pikachu doesn't really offer much to the anime anymore other than cuteness, despite the fact that there are plenty of cuter Pokemon out there.

They referenced it in an episode not too long ago.

You are aware that Pikachu is the series mascot to the point that they use a regular looking Pikachu in cross over games like Smash Bros. series? After all, you need the mascot to promote the series, which was the point of my post to begin with.

Yeah, I don't see why people are getting all worked up about this. Everyone can call Arceus what they want. If Arceus was the first pokemon in the pokemon universe then who's to say it was there when the earth was there or not. We wouldn't know, so I don't see why people are getting so worked up about a.... pokemon...

lol, I can't believe I just said that...

Well, Ash has seen Ho-Oh twice after the first episode. He saw it after his journey in Johto ended and in the Kanto Battle Frontier. I'm sure he'll be surprised, but I don't think that he would be jumping up and down.

I seriously doubt that. As other people have mentioned, it would be kind of weird to see Ash being replaced now since he has been the main character for over ten years. It wouldn't make sense for the writers to replace him after all of that time. Besides that, the new trainer, who would have to have a Pikachu and go through the gym battles, would feel like a carbon copy of Ash and then the whole change would feel pretty pointless.

Basically, if it isn't broken, don't fix it. And in this case, being broken means that they aren't getting enough money from the franchise. Since that is obviously not the case, then there's no need for the writers to replace Ash.

I wasn't saying that anyone should care about a new baby Pokemon. I was just saying that I could see them adding in a small/baby Pokemon somewhere in the movie to foreshadow the fifth generation. I do think that some of the baby Pokemon are cute and I think that some of the new evolutions for Pokemon have helped some of the older Pokemon in the games as well.

While I can see what you mean about the wasted potential, the whole series, including the movies, are mainly here to promote the games. Besides, there have been a couple of instances where the new baby Pokemon played did something useful in the movies. Muchlax evolved into Snorlax in the Deoxys movie, which allowed Ash to get closer to the main robot. The Bonsly in the Lucario movie also stayed with Mew so it could have a playmate. They're mainly there to be cute and foreshadow the next games, but they can have small, yet somewhat helpful roles in the movies.

Even though Arceus is the Pokemon version of God, I'm sure that they'll have some more legendaries in the next generation. I know it seems weird to continue on after Arceus, but I don't think that they're done with legendaries.

I always thought that Ritchie was like a more mature version of Ash. I don't think that they would replace Pikachu with a Raichu since one of the reasons I believe Ash is staying is because of how Pikachu is the mascot of the whole franchise. As Daxdiv mentioned in his posts, they need to have the mascot around to promote the franchise.

One thing I hope this movie doesn't do is have Ho-Oh fight Lugia. I don't mind Pokemon battles against legendaries, but I don't think that it would really work for them. The big battle worked for Dialga and Palika since time and space are opposing forces. With Ho-Oh and Lugia, I remeraber that they used to live together in the games. I know full well that the anime series doesn't always follow stories from the games one hundred percent, but I don't really see why they would fight.

And what would they fight about? Besides Dialga and Palkia where it was time vs. space, there's no need to battle over anything unless it's over something silly.

If Nintendo still wants a mascot, try using Piplup, Pachirisu, or even Meowth. They all can work to keep the franchise up and running until people get tired of the series altogether. I know I am since not a lot of people want to keep on collecting more and more Pokemon. Once you get one collection complete, there's another one to collect and another and another.
