*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

That's definitely a problem, I was looking at the OVI store website and there's a section called My Stuff that one would think was made to be able to track your downloads and re-download but this last option is missing, I wrote them asking about this and haven't received an email bounce yet so hopefully it went through.

Yes, I know I asked for that. But Nokia does the same in it's inner circles. The only thing is that Nokia fans are jealous that Nokia can't rouse a crowd outside of Nokia fans.

Just type "Maddox" into Google and read the iPhone article. Very true.

No, it's not fake but the screen brightness and clarity are so high that it makes you wonder if it's a real screen until someone touches it. It doesn't so much as flicker until you start touching it or pressing buttons.

Your money is going towards-

-OMAP3430 processor (with 3D hardware acceleration)
-256mb RAM

-7.2 HSDPA/5.76 HSUPA

-3.7" screen
-AMOLED (with the better battery life and added gorgeousness factored in
-Capacitive
-Tempered glass (which also means more durable)

-8mp camera
-HD video recording
-D1 video recording
-additional camera upgrades

-Wireless HD out over DLNA
-DivX/XviD/WMV/MP4 Support
-DNSe 2.0 dedicated sound processor

----

Of those features, the N97 has none. It trumps the i8910 with its keyboard, kinetic scrolling, and larger internal memory, and commands a higher price point for some reason.

I think many people on this thread are power user (people who travel often and rely on their cellphone to meet their day-to-day business and entertainment needs.)

Also there are a lot of people in cities that commutes train/bus to work and spend about 1-2 hours traveling. That would be the good time to have their phone/ipod/psp out watching video/gaming or listing to music.

You do bring out a good point, if I was to have a work at home job or am a couch potato; buying a high end devices doesn't make any sense. I certainly won't use my N97 to watch a movie when I have my big screen TV infront of me. :)

Just thinking to myself...how would you dial a phone ## on this?

I dont see any numeric keys on the QWERTY keyboard, nor do I see a "dialer" option like the 5800 has....

just curious :befuddled

liknsmak this is only because the N97 boots and automatically runs 5 widgets in the background running on the home screen. That means from the beginning you have 5 programs starting with N97.

I personally tested a prototype N97 with 5 widgets ON, music playing in the background, Web-Browser and Email ON as well and I face no memory issues at all.

Doesn't it say something that there's just no community development around S60 like there is around WinMo? Doesn't this bode very, very poorly for the whole idea of an 'open sourced' Symbian?

Answers: Yes it does, and you bet it does.

And for those that remembered when I talked about body-guardz (similar to invisible shield) I just sent my phone in. Should go out tomorrow overnighted, arrive Wednesday, then they cut and wrap and send it back and should have it back Thursday. I'll post pictures when I get it back and show you guys what a full body wrap looks like :)

It was in the download of the 5800 NAM today, I m installing it right now. I know it wasn't there yesterday since I looked for it when the Australia announcement came

I just asked this question at the symbian foundation website's Blog and i asked them to come to this thread and answer.
I basically asked if we can put the new os on to our phones and if not or "it depends on Nokia" we will 100% sure turn to a hacker to put the OS on to our phones.
