*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Opera can have it added (on the desktop OS anyway).

Apple's biggest problem with is consistency in their touch implementation... going from my Macbook Pro to an iPhone and back is an entirely different experience (2 fingers to page forward / back on the laptop, but only 1 to flick on the iphone, etc). Pinching is the most consistent but still not the same motion and I was always in the habit of getting stuck in either "phone" or "laptop" mode.

My online banking specifically says preauthorization initiated 5/18 and has a disclaimer that some retailers can let this lapse in which case available credit will return to normal, etc but that usually a charge is pending

Not by my finger, but in every day usage, dust, dirt, and hopefully not sand and water may be able to access it...don't really think that's a good thing.

Feature bar is a nice touch and I hope it stays.

hard to say, i'm hedging my bets until everything drops, and this forum fills with reviews.

TechReview mentions a January device, which had lots of pre-production bugs. then in late May, they report in a hands-on review that the N97 is much more responsive, fewer lags:

http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...obile-phones/hands-on-nokia-n97-review-603348

and then we have the latest and much more detailed review from today it seems, which isn't so hot. (and from which i got my latest sig picture. to be fair, i did cap a video where Facebook is not split up though, i'll add that in a bit).

Wow!

1> almost a full page and no post from Blaxxx. I think he's locked himself in padded room going insane from ... (or still trying) to purchase a prototype of N97 leaked onto the market only to find fakes all around the world in 90hrs.

2> Where the FRACK did all these cpu 'professionals' come from?!???

N95 was the best thing since sliced bread for the past 40 pages; yet.
STILL people complaining they want better! Now the past 3 pages N95's cpu blows chunks.

a) 4mentions of ppl wanting snapdragon oooh aaaahhh because it has 1Ghz! So what?!?? Its UNPROVEN! Not 1 device uses it so, careful what you wish for!

b) Everybody that has used the E71 for more than 4mths - such as myself - as their SOLE S60 or any smartphone will HAIL the SPEED of it running ANY app aside from multimedia intensive apps like CorePlayer/no TV out/video playback smoothness. Other than that the E71 OUTPERFORMS the N95 for web browsing/emails/navigation of menu/calendar/tasks/and yes even running multiple apps and switching between them (save for coreplayer or video playback apps!).

c) Everyone complaining or stating FAIL about the CPU has NO REAL understanding about its TRUE specs of processing or branch processing or RAM speed or even anything else. They quote simple specs like 434Mhz, Arm11 = fail or some such junk.

I hate to say this but hasn't Apple's desktop Megahertz myth marketing to save the ol G4 precluded the industry from the likes of AMD/Intel on the desktop/laptops of more cores, &/or less cpu speeds and less pipelines, faster FSB or faster RAM memory, and faster interconnect buses between components and MORE power efficiency opened your minds yet?!

This simple 434 or whatever mhz Arm 11 cpu could quite possibly rip the balls off the N95 in video performance and speed performance for normal app stuff the E71 is hallowed for. REMEMBER this thing DOES have 30fps video recording and TV-Out for WideScreen VGA format 16:9 in 30fps ... slightly better in "specs" than the N95 - just in aspect ratio.

UNTIL we ALL GET TO TRY THE FRACKN THING OURSELVES no more senseless posts about CPU speeds or cpu=FAIL; please! Not only is it getting childish ... its boring. Sure I want a serious cpu like the 3430 for bragging rights just as much as the next guy ... but I want my media & web-creation tool KING to last the full 24hrs while I'm out with my friends creating house party events, recording their DJ prowess, videoing the girls clocking, breakn' off, and show-nuff giving some play if their so inclined to have me document it!

THATS what this device is for ... along with seemless interaction. Even if bugs are there ... if it can perform WELL 87% of the time then its worth its cash.

Pre doesn't begin to offer what it can in over 4mths ownership. Ooh "news about MMS being supported" sound familiar?! Sounds like a 4yr old sidekick fan on boygenious singing praise.

WM with their varied device support is just there with X1 quite capable but with SE slow, tried & true is the norm ... they like perfection as a slow travel to evolution. It works for them and that device looks sweet and RAM has potential. HTC TouchPro no thanks too much block & bulk. yes I look at what I'm using beyond the screen itself and how it dances images/video/sound. I gotta wear dress pants mon-fri so E71 suits it. N97 may push it but I'll see. YOU may be a belt holster gunslinger but not me. I like my ninja star device; svelte and sleek.

For me NAM N series package(GPS, 5MP, Stereo speakers) with 32GB internal storage + 16GB microSD(as of now) & physical QWERTY is important.. Though I hate resistive screen

The reason why I purchased the N97 was because it has a HUGE 3.5" inch screen and because it's THE BEST phone out there that can be used just like a laptop for the internet. The last reason why I got the N97 was because of its excellent call quality. I don't care about widgets. I want to be able to log on to the internet and surf the web. I want the N97 to be fast and to be relaible for internet usage and for making and receiving calls. If the N97 can do more things than what I want to use it for then that's also good too. IMHO I believe that most people who will purchase the N97 are regular people who are looking for a phone that has a big enough screen that they can use for the internet and a phone that they can use to watch movies and to listen to music. A lot of these same people will also use the N97 for business use. I still think that the N97 has a lot of excellent features on it and I alo believe that it's better built than the "flimsy" and "fragile" iPhone. The iPhone is too fragile and it's well known for cracking very easily if it's dropped. Also, you need to send back the iPhone to Apple and pay Apple to change the battery in it. The iPhone might be a good phone, but it's not 100% perfect and it also has its flaws just like any other phone.

Thats cool...I'm 57 and work my mind all day in my office so hopefully for now that avoids the dreaded A word (or D). I just don't get any enjoyment from electronic games..maybe a Wii would be cool..but a cellphone?! Even the 3.5 screen is too small to see to do anything but email, text and the emergency websurf so for me a game on it is kinda out of the question even if it did entertain..

MCO is reading
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100

Missing just the US 850 and 1700.

This phone is a must have I do believe. Only thing I would do is upgrade the 5MP camera to 8MP.

I called and they said that they got some in already but those were for preorders. They are expecting another shipment on friday. Price is 750.
