*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

To the person who was asking about the anti-glare..if it's anything like power support's anti-glare shields you'll like it. Doesn't show fingerprints and it has a smooth but not sticky texture that makes using the screen easier.

Get an E71 or E66 and you'll see why I am dumping my N95-4. In fact I can't stand it anymore and feel like I grossly over paid for a toy. It may have specs and marketing numbers behind it but it is a PITA to use compared to the E71/E66. They are so different that I can't even believe they run the same OS. At the price they are going for you can't afford not to try one.

This phone seems to have addressed the lag issue (the 5800 has not for sure) and I am confident that they are able to having used the E71/E66.

There could be a chance that my white N97 may arrive from Amazon first, but you at least can be satisfied in the fact that you were able to get that unbelievable price. It won't be too long before we are all playing with our N97s. :2thumbs:

Think it fluctuates with their inventory system as they have more shipments and orders scheduled. Sounds like the first wave sold out, then they got a second wave.

Yea, I saw that too, but my estimated delivery date is still June 5th-17th. Maybe they ran out of pre-order stock and that is when they will be replenished?

That review is odd.

They seemed to love the keyboard: "average sized hands, and within minutes we were typing at around 60% speed compared to a normal keyboard, which is excellent for a mobile phone."

"None of the above should be taken to mean this is a bad phone. By all means, it's a decent effort and not bad for around ?500 SIM free. The angled touchscreen and QWERTY keyboard are to die for, and the connection to the Ovi Store promises bountiful upgrades, especially when we have 32GB of space to fill up."

But were harping at things like the black font being hard to read on the default theme. Okay.

They love the browser, but hate the email. That's to be expected using the stock email program without HTML, I think. Hopefully there will be a good solution on Ovi with a widget to take up this slack.

The biggest concern being their 3G call/issues. Would have been nice if they mentioned turning 3G off and seeing if GSM/EDGE worked good. That review kind of reinforces my lack of urgency to switch to AT&T from T-mo, though.

This is what Nokia gets for announcing something half a year before it comes out. By the time they actually ship the thing everybody else has either caught up or passed them. Don't get me wrong, I pre-ordered, but this is still frustrating. RAM, especially the stuff they're using, is so stupidly cheap that it makes no sense for it to still be an issue.

Based on the experiences posted by various users thus far, at the very least we've been able to see that 256mb of RAM on the i8910 vs the 128mb of RAM on the N97 is not just a question of numbers. :(

Crap, I still get Mobile ESPN.com LOL

By the way Gorgonesh, the whole .com/net/org thing is 10x more useful, if you don't type in the 'www.'

Right, because Apple puts their best foot forward(and technology) into each iPod/iPhone they make. you'd be hardpressed to find any other company that releases new versions of the same models in the exact month every year that have just that little bit more you were hoping for the way Apple does. They know that they have a cult following and will, like lemmings, buy anything they make even if all they did was change a color and call it the new version. When every other MP3 maker in the world had built-in FM tuners in their players (Circa 2006) Apple still has yet to release one with that ability(how many generations later?). Minor quibble but still part of the theme.

Roughly the same size screen and exact same resolution as my previous phone (N95-3) so to me its golden. N95 with a QWERTY keyboard to me at least. The QWERTY keyboard was my primary reason for making it my everyday phone, I send far too many text messages and emails from my phone to be using T9. I can live without a 3.5mm headphone jack and N-Gage (the only 2 features on my N95 that actually cannot use on an E71) but QWERTY is now a must for me.
