*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

There is one small upside to the low charge rate. Higher charge rates degrade battery capacity faster than lower charge rates. I do see your point though.

I don't see anything that prevents someone from making a high current charger with a micro-USB plug. If they make that then your problem is solved.

5 pages back, there was some wallpaper discussion.

In Themes, you can set up a slideshow option for wallpaper (which is fullscreen now, BTW) and you can set the change interval as well.

I dont like how it rotates the images I set up though.

A lot of people have been talking about RAM during start up...what is everyone using to see the amount of RAM available during start-up? Is there something in Symbian that allows you to do this?

Or is everyone using a third-party app to see RAM usage?

THANK YOU, DAWG! THAT'S IT!

I'm not trying to bash on the N97 or bash on anyone in here for choosing to buy it, but I completely understand why you would get defensive when I start to bring criticism to the table.

I'm sure that if the early batch of N97s has problems and I get my hands on one, I'll have no problems selling it to some sucker....errr...I mean...whatever, screw it...I'm pawning it off on the first sucker that comes a callin

I remember this being stated before that the N97 would have a harder plastic coating layer than the 5800. Hoping that it makes for a nice touch experience. Honestly, the screen on my N810 is the softer plastic and the finger response of that is pretty nice.

Did I think the N97 would be the end of Nokia's development? No.
Am I willing to wait past the June/July/August timeframe? No.
Capacitive alone wasn't a deal breaker before, though, so this doesn't piss me off.

I think this is the mystery phone sighted in the development video or "Eitri" hinted at in the Roadmap. Sounds like it will be exactly like an N97 with 8GB of storage and no QWERTY (thus a bit thinner). Capacitive would be nicer, but resistive isn't a deal breaker, but does make it more of a direct iphone competitor.

My wife is not a power user.. She doesn't even multitask..

lolz, yeah she use to use the N82 and loved the camera and loves taking pictures in low light..

Now she uses the iPhone because she liked the eyecandy touch interface and the bigger screen of course..

Good luck with that. I don't know about the N97 configuration but on previous models Nokia uses a single IC that houses the RAM and ROM. Even if you were to find a different IC with twice the RAM the second you pull that IC up and replace it you loose the programming for the phone. That is, unless they plan on copying out the image from the ROM and programming it into the new IC as well.

It depends on where the phones are coming from. Since the N97 NAM is coming from the US, the price of the N97 is affected by the exchange rate.
Then ofcourse there's the markup price. So that's why we pay a lot more than the US. Sucks but what can we do.
