*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Fine by me, I despise touchscreen keyboards. I remember playing with a iPod Touch at a Compusa... got fed up trying to type in a URL and left irritated without getting to the browser.

let me try to simplify it for you, guy: :2thumbs:
e52 600mhz
e55 600mhz
5630 xpress music 600mhz

N97(nokia's Flaghip) 434mhz = fail

But hey we all know processors are basically worthless, it is just thier to pad the specs sheet. :buddies: (not to mentionthe low amount of ram) :crying:

Now if you want to talk about mediocrity I sugguest we move to the ovi store thread...

Don't know about that: http://www.mobileburn.com/news.jsp?Id=6800

I suppose as AT&T transitions to 850MHz it may be a problem in some areas, but as of now it's not a real issue.

Where I live, I could easily see myself getting one for the weekends. This feature set makes up for the amateur nature of S60v5.

Would like to see Samsung bring this kind of feature set to Android. I'm sure they will. Netbooks are being built on it.

Sounds like you're in the wrong forum section, you might wanna try this one :p However, with what Apple is moving forward with 3.0 and that app store thing, their little iPod with phone function is becoming a much better balance btw fashion and function.

@Uxi

Sorry but but what you say with this,

" Hyperbole of course, so hopefully you'll excuse it cause I haven't yet seen that from you and am not accusing you (or JonnyBruha) , but often constructive criticism gives way to blind crusading aka trolling."

That's just absurd because in this one thread about the N97 and the E series threads where i have criticised the move to smaller 2.4" screens not even talking about the processors I'm on a blind crusade? To do what exactly stop people buying Nokia's and losing them money? please you seem to understand my motives so well tell me what my game plan is then?

Your the only one on a blind crusade to try and stop any negative criticism of what is of course one of the worlds best mobile computers the N97 from the worlds best manufacturer that loves every single one of you.

If you check the N73, N93, N95, N95 8GB, E61, E90 threads you will see all the praise i had for Nokia and defending these points to. You know why because quite simply they deserved it they were making the most advanced smart phones on the planet at the time. They were the first with the OMAP2420 and Power VR in any mobile phone and with more power then ever seen before. So yes their software and hardware may not of been perfect but it was good.

As for fitting an OMAP chip would of delayed it well considering Nokia already have OMAP experience they had more than enough time. Maybe you just don't get it Nokia could easily of put an OMAP 3 chip and 256mb Ram in the N97 right from the start they simply chose not to. Both Samsung and Palm have managed to implement it yet niether had used an OMAP before in a similar time frame. That's why Nokia didn't want to release what the processor was until the last minute not because they were getting the jump on others but because they know they could of done much better. They also realised the debates that would follow on all the forums.

So don't accuse me of being a Nokia basher or hater or being blinded when something deserves and warrants praise it gets it. But if i don't like what i see and think their are area's lacking why in the world should i shut up and not express my opinions. This what a Forum is about discussion and opposing views how can you seriously expect us to all to agree?

If and when a mod tells me to stop posting i will but i really fail to see what right you or anyone else has to say i don't have a right to voice and post MO even if they are long essays. Don't like them don't read them don't agree explain why i am wrong and you are right. But Nokia Rules isn't really an answer no is it?

I'm not really familiar with Ngage, as this is my first Nokia device... but with games such as Spore, Far Cry 2, and Need For Speed Underground available for purchase and download right now... what would having the Ngage do any different?

I don't think anyone's trying to shove their opinion down anyone else's throat. Everyone who has tried it and didn't like it has specifically said that you need to try it for yourself.

And yes, they would put a production version on display for people to demo. At the Chicago store, the pre-production version they had couldn't be flashed to anything newer and they initially wouldn't turn it on for me. I had to put my name on the call list and talk the rep into putting in a battery for me because they did NOT want people to judge the N97 on the poor firmware.

Okay, called just now to check the order status. I was told that everything's fine and that it should ship in july... I asked if Nokia will honor the price and he said yes, and that I "got lucky this morning."

Exactly, the device will meet me communication needs and allow me convergence of my messaging and multimedia phones. I'm looking forward to it as well.

The N97 photos were from a proto unit that had pre-release firmware that needs some tweaking of the auto focus routines. I'm sure by product release we will see this ironed out. The N97 just focused on points in the background instead of the subjects in front of the camera.

I'm loving mine still. hoping to get more apps added onto here.

what exactly does a ovi account do? like what benefits do i get or what features. I see many of you have some typre of ovi email in your signature.

Mark from The Nokia Blog has been on point in the past and I'd like to believe he has more credible sources than the sales reps from NokiaUSA.com. We'll know for sure in 2 weeks.
