*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Ovi Store will have more than 20,000 content from day one. That is a combination of apps, themes, videos, etc..
What I heard is that all categories will numbers contents in 4 digits forms. That means we will have at least 1,000 apps, 1,000 themes etc, on day one.
Only time will tell if the above is true.

First off, i would take the omnia hd. i dont need 3g as i have wifi just about everywhere. i would like 3g, but its not a must.

Secondly, you are willing to pay $700 for the n97 now. would you pay $1000 or even $1100 if it had the camera and screen from the omnia hd? i would.

finally, the phone that currently meets my needs is the htc magic. its incredibly snappy, the apps are great and it only cost me $100 (subsidized) with NAM 3g :D Even still, if the omnia hd nam or satio come out soon i will give them a shot if theyre at the same price point at the n97
 
My point was that I have used both, hate both, but would still much prefer the N82's keypad. At the very least, you could get used to it because it still gave decent feedback, despite the odd shape of each key.
 
Nokia N97 was THE phone for me since it was first announced. Now, 6 months later and from what I've heard so far about this phone and the OVI store, I might have to wait for the iPhone announcement before I make my decision. My Nokia e71 is still doing the job very well.
 
I think they realized what you're saying and on the surface, it looks like their focus on services only got us Share on Ovi, Ovi Contacts, Files on Ovi but don't forget that Ovi Store is going to launch any day now and their focus on services also led to the widgets on the N97 and the kickass Facebook app.

In other news, I heard a bad rumor that a full version of Gravity will be installed on the N97 when it ships. I know a lot of the prototypes have had Gravity installed on them but this doesn't seem realistic.
 
I thought you were firm in OmniaHD? Or did Doggman's RF scare you back on the fence?

Any tactile response is better than none. Most of the early prereviews from Eric's blog to Mobile-Review liked the keyboard, though match with AAS saying you're not going to be writing long treatises on it. Which sounds about right. Text messaging and emails mostly. How long of emails do you usually write from a mobile device? :hehehe:
 
It's on the last page. lol. Short answer is that those with shipping dates haven't changed yet, so it appears that this is another wave and that the preorder wave may have sold out.
 
This is exactly why I was onthe fence about waiting later for the price to go down further.
People kept saying that since it is already 600$ on Amazon it would go lower. But Amazon prices fluctuates, it can be 500 one day, then 700 in two weeks. You never know. I'm happy I preordered the black one already :D
 
Absolutely. They failed because I personally don't like the features that I listed above and that's why I am hoping N97 (being an N series) will bridge the gap between the two E series that I dislike.

They both are great phones, but they didn't fit my needs.


All I ever wanted on a phone...

- Resolution that is higher than 320x240 in it's native resolution
- 3.5mm audio jack
- replaceable battery
- removable memory card
- Great camera
- GSM 850 and ATT 3G
- Physical keyboard
- Physically not bigger than 5800 (so no E90)
- Touchscreen (I can live without it)
and it must be NOKIA!


Is it too much to ask? :( :( :( :( :(
 
I am in Canada though, so even if they do ship to Canada (not sure if they do), shipping and possible customs will cost a lot...
are there any trusted stores in NYC that sell NAM N97 cheaper than the flagship store? and does the flagship store generally charge the same as the price listed on Nokiausa.com?
