*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

This is the second time in a row I've gotten an unnecessary critical remark on this thread.

Look, I don't need you to tell me that. There is a chance that it might be true.
This is about info or possible info. We are anticipating and discussing the cpu etc.. so lets discuss and try to figure it out then.

It seems destructive to me to keep trying to shoot down my comments.
Do you have a better guesstimate than this?

I will be, but not here. I'll be carrying over this discussion into the Omnia HD vs N97 thread and I advise everyone else to do the same for the sake of this thread.

Go scratch.

I've spent more money on S60 than most people here have. I was bit hard when Nokia broke binary compatibility for *no good reason at all* with S60V3. I still bought S60V3 phones, and I was still burned when Nokia screwed me on support.

So, you can do one of two things. You can realize and accept that there is a VERY large contingent of S60 users who love the OS but hate what Nokia's done to it, or you can ignore everyone who makes a comment critical of Nokia... In which case you're only going to be reading about 4 posters here.

With the specs fully revealed we all know it's not a "full glass." But still, most folks here will still get the phone and sees the glass as "half-full."

Nokia cleared their inventory of outdated B stocks and trimmed down excess fat in the company. This should put them in better shape for the next batch of devices.

So far I read where the widgets won;t update using anything other than 3G..ie no wiFi on the widgets....If thats true its a deal breaker. Widgets are a huge NON FORM factor upgrade, But they should work using wiFi,

I don;t think its wise to buy any NEW model number. The N95-1 The N96 are examples of passing and waiting for Nokia to release a better product.
I think they are behind the technology with this one after seeing the Omnia and the Sony both of which look to be really nice phones (except for Sony's lack of a 3.5 mm jack and that irritating port.)

The Omnia has no 850 3G and I am suspect of Samsung support as a company who makes a cell phone as an after thought to their bread an butter electronics lines.

So again it seems the N95 is still the phone to beat in my world for another 6 months. I may get the Itouch even though I despise Apple, for the WiFi mobile computer aspect and just keep the N95 until 4g LTE phones are released.... It may be too much to ask for a phone that does it all.

Very decent picture and good subject :p It's nice not to see red eyes :)

That's definitely a N97 there, lot of distractions in the video  but I'm sure it is.

I don't care how successful the INNOV8 did overseas, it was still a crappy phone. If people in Europe bought it in droves then their stupid. Furthermore, why would I care about what happens outside of North America? Where do we live Jonny?

im going to have to break it to you all.

Nokia N97. probably wont come with any great cpu or even 600mhz radio crap.

we bashed the n96 like there was no tomorrow for not having 3D. what did nokia do? they surprised us with the 264mhz STM.. LOL.

Are these Amazon pre-orders you guys are making with Free Super Saver Shipping? That generally adds more time to the estimated shipping dates than actually ends up happening..

I've seen screenshots of it and it's pretty cool. For me, it's all about ease of getting to the client. Right now on my E71, I get a text message, hit the Messaging shortcut and it brings up Conversations. I don't want to have to go through any menus to get to my new message.

There isn't a place to hold a stylus. That's why only China and markets like that will get one in the box. Can't map Cantonese and Mandarin onto a QWERTY keyboard lol.

I'm starting to see that now as well. After reading through the Samsung OmniaHD vs Nokia N97 thread, it seems that Blaxx has been blasting the OmniaHD since its inception without any regard for what it does or how it will perform. I've said a couple times now that I'm not trying to make anyone buy one over the other and that the N97 is an excellent deal for the $500 glitch. I have yet to hear anyone else chime in with anything positive about the OmniaHD to show a lack of bias.

It might actually look that nice with the brightness turned down. When the brightness is turned up, it tends to create a blur effect on most video cameras.

I still don't think you can expect much more out of the N97's screen than you would the 5800XM. It's the same tech, only a little bigger, with the same delicate layer of plastic on top.
