*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Nokia started shipping today... means it will take few days for retailers to receive. I don't think Nokia USA will ship the pre-orders today. I am saying based on thier history, they always ship pre-orders after they ship to retailers.

Is funny the fact that we are only two month away before the N97 hit stores and Nokia doesn't even have an official website for this product, is not even listed as an upcoming phone at europe.nokia.com or any nokia website, neither in nseries.com, if you combine that with the processor mystery... Knowing Nokia this is the first time happening. Never before an unveiled product lacked official website and technical specifications.

You're right, they're just trying to cover their butts against the knockoffs. I wouldn't worry about Transcend, or anything Newegg carries for that matter. I'm gonna just look for something class 6 and cheap. If you're lucky people will post their speed tests in reviews.

You will be amazed by it's build quality once the phone is on your hand.

The N86 and N97 are by far the best built N-Series phone to date.

Nokia really listened and stepped up on the built quality this time.

I agree. I am glad I made the preorder for the white from Amazon at $600. It was much better than settling for the NokiaUSA 10% discount off $699 from that coupon code once the pricing glitch had been corrected.

Blackberrys pwn everything imho. but i guess its just how good you get at managing a particular OS. the bb-os is comfortable for me, so I like it better then using my E71!
Lets see if the N97 is what all of us have been waiting for, truth be told Nokia does disappoint at certain points..

I wasn't talking about features, I was just replying to his comment that 8mp phones are not readily available. Outside of the US, Samsung, LG, and Sony Ericsson are slapping them on as many models as they can too, so Nokia is late and can't even match up to the feature set that has been implemented into competitors camera software.

I would honestly go with the 5mp because it doesn't seem like it's going to be different. Great, the low light performance might be better, but the daytime pictures don't look all that great. I'm reserving judgement for the production models, but as we saw from the N95, the camera got better a year after the phone came out.

This is a quote from this reveiw: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/nokia-n97-606466/review?artc_pg=3...

"Call quality is a little less impressive however, with nearly all the calls we made on the test handset not connecting the first time despite having more than enough signal. This seemed like a teething problem at first but then developed into a full-time raging issue, as trying to make a call took at least two or three minutes more than it was meant to."

Are you kidding me?!

I didn't have fun at all. But that's a nice phone all things considered. I'm gonna pick a couple up to keep in stock for the next time someone asks me for a phone.
