*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

I like the fact that you can make your own Widgets and Nokia had their design contest that probably flooded them with ideas. I can see there being dozens of widgets loaded onto the device at launch with dozens of more in the Ovi Store. My boy doesn't really care much for the panels so he just leaves the default one up as its most reminiscent of regular, plain ol WinMo. However, he does use the panel with the fish that swim around following where you touch to pick up girls LOL.

I think I'm just gonna go ahead and preorder it from Nokia USA because I'm not impressed with the price I got from SN Traders.

N96 is now $615 by the way.

^^^agreed. I use my 5800 with one hand regularly and never encounter any problems doing so! The only time I use 2 hands is on the rare occasion that I want to type a long email or something similar and choose to use the landscape qwerty. And as for the stylus, i've used it once, and that was when I had a paint type app installed.

In a row, probably never but I love the capability of being able to watch what I'm in the mood for at a whim. Not being interested in a action movie, I can watch something drama. Or if I want to watch explosions or what not, I can. Or if I want to watch some of my HBO:Rome, I can do that, too. Or a Star Trek episode/movie or a Star Wars flick, etc.

I usually keep 15 or so in iTunes on my laptop at any one time and usually thence to my iPod classic. Never know if I'm going to be in the mood for something or the other.

sr, other than the homescreen I haven't seen much different in the interface than the 5800 or s60s in general. To be honest I was expecting a bigger facelift; it really could use one. Nokia could easily update the look and feel to be modern while letting it still play like the s60 device we expect.

Also one question for anyone who's been checking everything for this phone: the designers and people we know that are responsible for this phone, what was their last project?

I am hoping the phone done last wasn't a buggy piece or crap like the n96 and will have a good implementation of the OS because it is so vital for this. Especially on a touchscreen phone, the software will make or break the device.

Try setting up your access point on Destinations > Wap services...

Next use an application to access the network and then choose the access point set up under Wap services..

That depends on your finances...if you have $5bills to burn then who cares..if you're living payck to payck ...I wouldn't even be looking at a N97

Sad part for me is I was awake at 2am, I saw this, I ordered, it charger my CC, but nokia said "credit card" declined....so i thought "i'll wait in the morning and try again"...by the time i get to work...deal is dead....nokiausa's checkout process is b**llshit...i won't be buyin the n97 until i can get it to at least $550 shipped...(I had it yesterday at around $490 shipped)

It is out of hand...I think it dies a slow death once the preorders start getting filled. It appears about 1 out of 500 or so preorders are filled. For now I go watch the Magic hopefully put down the Lakers...later

I was also able to remove the sidebar a few times in the browser using the emulator. But I don't know how I did it. I tried many times to recreate the action but failed.

Most eBay sellers will get ''Made by Nokia'' Asia Pacific version. N97-1

N97 nam most probably will be made in China. All the videos I've seen so far are N97-1 which is not nam and it's Made in Finland!
