*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N97

Don't have an N97, but if I did, it would be the same $15 Data Unlimited plan that I use for my N95 and E71. You can add that plan to whatever voice plan you want. If you have a family plan with unlimited messaging then you can get the Data Unlimited plan for $10.

SGV. I was mostly satisfied with Cingular back in the day, but since switching to T-Mo in 2004 I've been 100% happy with my voice plan. So I'd more regret losing the cushy grandfathered voice than regretful of AT&T... still going from 1000any/unlimited night and weekend to ~700 any minutes on the AT&T is quite a big difference... even if I average between 400 and 600 minutes a month.

About the only thing that could keep me T-Mo at this point is magically getting $5.99 unlimited T-zones/EDGE turned back on. Maybe the new $10 unlimited plan... maybe, but the 3G draw is pretty good as you noted,e specially since I can rope my wife in on a family plan.

What are the chances of Nokia making a N97-3 and -4 with more RAM, more disk space and possibly a better CPU? It seems to be a trend with them and if I remember correctly the N95 8gb came out about a year after the N95 classic.

I would doubt that they'd make it to the 5800. It's an XM phone and not an N-series phone so there's something that needs to differentiate. Even though they are both S60v5 there's going to be different features in each of the phones. Look at S60 FP1 on the E71 versus the N95 for example, (or any of the current E-series versus N-series with FP1) totally different calendar, menu layout, etc. I honestly think that Nokia will keep the widgets unique to N-series. I could see them adding kinetic scrolling in a future update since that's a nice benefit to the usability of the phone.

Nice post-well said. I believe you are so right..best solution is to just go out and get the Itouch as a companion to the N97..situation over!! Best of both worlds: we get to play with what we all realize is a more "fun" touch experience, and get to use what we all realize is a better "phone" and "convergence" device.

Starting around the 37 second mark he starts using the touch screen. From the looks of it, it seems as if he is barely touching it.

Old resistive touch screens were atrocious but nowadays they are WAAAY better. If you get a chance to jump into an AT&T store, head over to the Impression and that will change anyones mind about resistive screens being all bad.

Got it too. :D

I can see the order status changing being related to db work, but sending new confirmation emails? I dont think so.

Or you just slide your finger/thumb down the list until the screen scrolls down, remove thumb once you get to the track/album/artist you want.
