*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

NokiaUSA says they ship the phone in three days when it's released that is if it's preordered.

CS - customer support through the phone?

So, let me get this straight, you can call us liars twice, but i can't comment twice on your statement?
Bit hypocritical isn't it?

My problem is that you post your experience as if it's fact, and since it went well for you, everyone else that has had an issue is a BS'er.

Maybe i should call you a liar and suggest that since my experience was bad with cancellation, that they all must be that way.
What do you think?

I was hoping someone out there may have seen a NAM box or something floating around. Especially if the Nokia stores here in the US are going to start selling them tomorrow.

Sigh. I guess we just keep waiting. :reallysad

No W995 does not take good pictures, I sold W995 for N86. Remember my review of W995 in mobile-review forums? Yes, I'm Ghostofsparta. lol

I just read your feedback, you have sold a lot of phones in person.Yes, I've decided to keep N86, because it's handy in long run. If you want, I can sell you i8910 :hehehe: I think N95-4 takes less noisy pictures then N86, stick to N95-4 unless you really want 8gb,transmitter,Fp2 etc. N95-4 rocks. It's amazing what you can do with N95-4 if you are aware of BinPDA ;)

Does Amazon ship to Canada now?

OT: Should I go for the N86 or the N97? (keep in mind that I'm using an N85 now). The 8mp cam is drool worthy but not a necessity.

I don't know. I haven't been there since the N97 launch.

BTW, Here is the MobileBurn review with a 3 part video:http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=7469

Conclusion

"The Nokia N86 8MP is a great handset and a significant improvement in build quality from previous Nokia Nseries sliders. Overall, it seems that Nokia have polished their Nseries devices to a higher standard, cramming the most tech possible into the smallest form factor. However, I feel somewhat underwhelmed. What with the aggressive competition in the marketplace and the amount of innovation on show from competitors, the N86 8MP feels a bit, well, boring really. Sure, it has a great camera and a really nice music player, plus lots of storage and a lovely AMOLED display, but the UI makes it feel dated, even though it is packed with the latest tech.

Overall, I enjoyed using the Nokia N86 8MP and found it a very useful tool for music and photos, because it excels at both. However, the Ovi Store application was painfully slow and didn't have the range of apps that competing stores have, and the web browser wasn't as slick as that of some touchscreen rivals. So, in summary, the N86 is a great handset with plenty of top notch features, but isn't quite as exciting as other, lesser equipped, rivals on the market. However, if you don't need a flashy touchscreen handset and just want something a bit more old-school with a huge list of features and a rock-solid construction, then the Nokia N86 8MP could be the handset for you. Therefore, I give the Nokia N86 8MP a "Highly Recommended" rating, due to its solid feature set and robust build quality."

Hope Nokia will fix the call logs issues where all types of numbers dialed show up with mobile icon (instead of home icon for home, office icon for office numbers). Also, they should improve the contacts with new icons to identify Home, Office numbers instead of using similar icon for both.

To be fair the nokia store and events are very low lit, and i agree i told gwapz, how can you guys go to a s60 meet and not have tons of pictures with the n86 there, its mind boggling. :buddies:

Autofocus is a hardware feature, they are exactly the same. The only difference is that V20 identifies the spot in the frame it is focusing on, V11 just told you when the focus was locked. V20 is much better in this regard because you can see if the camera is focusing on the right thing. Its a nine point autofocus, so just imagine 3 columns of 3 spread equally over the frame, the phone will pick one of the nine and focus on whats there, usually whatever is closer. In landscape mode, the camera goes to infinity focus and it is not focusing on anything. Macro mode is the opposite with the camera looking for something closer to focus on. The auto focus is quite good. In V11 the automatic setting would not focus macro shots correctly, this is much better in V20. However even in macro mode, you can see that the camera could focus down to a couple of centimeters but it will never lock, only at around 5 or more CM will it lock. Frustrating as I love macro, I am sure they will fix it. Amazing how good the optics are for a cell phone.

Yeah, well mine does! The dpad is placed top-right. I only notice it at night when the surrounding light shines through all round except top-right.

Great to hear :)

I love mine too :buddies:

lolz.. That's my testing ground.. If it can load that site and do couple of more multitask its a good multitasking phone..

On the N97.. I went to that site. It closed all my apps including widgets without telling me.. Very smart eh?

not to start this whole xenon argument again. But, would it be possible for the Cap-xx capacitor to be used with the xenon flash? If the capacitor size was the problem and not the physical size of the flash itself. This would maybe be compromise of size and function.

I do think Nokia has moved away from the N series candybar. If the camera is comparable, I may look at the E55. The battery life of that thing looks promising. I dont know what I would do without having to plug my phone in every night.
