Where is it confirmed that the white will not be released in NAM? The indigo was the first release in some markets too. The white came out about a 5-6 weeks later. I like the N86 in white and the N97 in black.
 
I don't think they expect N86 to do well in North America, even relative to N97 and that they're probably not devoting many resources to it. Unless there's some sort of carrier negotiation dragging it out, it's unlikely to get alot of press (plenty of other 8mp phones out there, no touch, no particularly impressive specs) and thus sales...
 
If you want to do video, you need LED, but xenon excels for stills, so both are needed. My dream phone would have both xenon and dual LED, as well as sliding qwerty and big touchscreen.
 
How replaceable is the faceplate?
me personally, i just like to use the phones as is, and just slap a new faceplate on.
That's what i do with the e71, but it's cheap and easy with this phone.
The last nokia slider i took apart was the music express 5300 and i was certainly was sorry i did that.
 
While you are obviously having issues getting a sharp picture in that setting as most compacts would actually(Im excluding the one out the window, as a couple layers of plexi aint helping) the way the phone resolves detail in low light is still amazing. If nokia would fine tune their camera firmware then they could really take advantage of that sensor, and they will. And yes we are all going to have to learn how to brace the phone because of the hard shutter button.
 
I have actually turned back to my trusty friend cClock for that real pocket watch look! :D

That clock is on my phone all day long with minimal hit to battery life. Love oled!
 
I grew to love the Gallery key. So much so that when I got my E71 I didn't know where the hell to find the Gallery for 10 minutes LOL. The multimedia key was far more of a nuisance on the N95-3 before the second FW update because it opened the laggy Multimedia menu that didn't do anything that you didn't already have shortcuts for.

I do not know why I'm just trying this now.. I guess I was too loyal to the Nokia Email.. But when everything started failing I needed to look for solutions and Profimail has given me the good so far.
 
I hope 3rd Ed is not toast....IMO S60 was never meant to be made into a TS device. The best S60 devices to date are still in 3rd Ed flavor.
 
Haven't really pushed the phone since the update...but it seems quicker and less quirkier.

My biggest complaints on the old FW was a hanging data connection and freezing with e-mail access. It was also more disagreeable when I was on an edge connection (where I work), so I'll play with that more this week.

Also, when I tried to use my VMX-100 Sennheiser bluetooth it was pure hell with V11, but on the new FW it connects flawlessly with no problems.

I've been able to use the camera with great success for both FWs, but I have just been careful to grab the main body of the camera and not the slider when I'm taking pics. Last week I was taking pics at a Ron White show and the contrast was getting blown out at zoom, so I will do some comparisons on that kind of shooting. Those are pretty extreme circumstances though...uneven lighting at full zoom. This camera is awesome compared to N95.
 
I wonder if it's possible to replace the blue pad (in your case, yellow/greenish pad) with something that isn't hard plastic...all you would need to make sure is the magnet would still make contact the same way.
 
I'm having an issue with bluetooth that I'm not sure if it's a problem with the N86 or the headsets I'm trying.

I just got the Jabra Extreme. When it syncs with the N86 volume in the earpiece is low. If I switch to the handset and then back to the headset again, with the right function key, volume jumps up and everything is fine. I exchanged the Extreme for a second one, but get the same problem.

Somewhat similarly, with the Voyager Pro, when I connect sound has a slight (but very annoying) chatter to it, which is resolved by switching to the handset and then back to the headset again. I did not initially have this problem with the Pro, but developed it on the second day of trying it out.

I tried both the Extreme and the Pro with my old 6290 and also had the volume issue with the Extreme, but not the chattering issue with the Pro. I haven't had a chance to exchange the Pro yet to see if that helps.

Anyway, so I'm not sure what to make of this. If I just consider the Extreme, evidence suggets it's the problem. If I consider the Pro, evidence points to the N86 being the problem.

Anyone experiencing anything similar with the N86 and bluetooth headsets? I'm using v11 of the firmware. (Don't want to upgrade and get some of the bugs v20 introduces, so I'm waiting for the next version.)
