*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

What happened to the Multimedia key from the N85 and other similar devices?

First they remove the "long press" action from the N95 which would take you straight to the music player, as well as the "Gallery" key. Now they remove the multimedia button altogether?

This will definitely make it more cumbersome to open the music player (the quickest way may be to open the slider the "other" way, press Play, and then slide back), and even more so to go to your gallery... :(

I'm just gonna sulk in my beer.

As we all know the final version will have some refinement. Hopefully it can help bridge the gap. I will still hold final verdict until we can have a true comparison.

It does look like maybe the n86 wasnt held completely still for the shot. I cant put my finger on it. But based this picture the n95 takes a better picture, and that cant be right.

i notice that the back of this device really gets warm when the device is in my pocket and not really in use. not hot, but just warm. so far i am liking the device. i was out of the country for a few days and since i wasnt using data while roaming i locked it to edge and was surprised that the voice quality was really good and when i did use a little data (google maps) it seemed pretty quick over edge. satellite lock times is usually pretty fast too. i had it set to geotag photos, and i found that if i was indoors and put the phone back in my pocket before it got a satellite lock it would keep trying to get a location lock for at least several minutes. that could be a bit of a battery waster.

the maps app seems crippled without using data as each time i tried to look up an address it would try to go online, even though i had loaded the entire state of arizona with the maploader before i left home. luckily i had installed garmin xt and it worked well.

i found that listening to mp3s sounded fine at full volume, no crackling from the speakers. the only time that happened was when i was using internet radio at home and the station had a low quality feed

sorry to hijack the thread here guys..

I thought its just me. I have N95 and got the same problem. Only happen when I put Nokia Messaging to online all the time though.

I should have purchased it from J&R...Amazon will not match prices. I think $499 is a good deal for the phone, but I wouldn't mind having the extra $30.

Anyway, can anyone else confirm that the N86-3 does NOT come pre-loaded with the cool stand-by clock?

hows the 3g on the i8910 working for ya in dallas? Ive been considering it too. Love the screen. Been checking craigslist everyday to see if you're selling it because you probably have the only one in dallas :hehehe:

Just bought an N86 yesterday. I actually wanted the white one, but the black was $100 cheaper, so I just sprang for the black. I "upgraded" from an N82, so I was anxious to test out the camera quality. Shot these two pics in complete darkness while lying on my bed:

So far, I AM finding myself missing xenon, but the N86 is doing better than expected. Spent last night taking low-light pics of my friends in a bar, and while it didn't have that xenon motion-freezing goodness, it wasn't far behind. In video, of course, it was WAY better than the N82.

I have never read such a whiner in my life, instead of just returning the phone you decided to come here and subject all of us to the most useless and over blown garbage I have ever read, I myself had two of these and did not care for them, and sure I said so but I do not think that a old outdated phone that Nokia does not even support any longer was better than the N86. Also since you find the overuse of the little smile guys so much fun here is one I have for you!!!! :behind: :nahnah: Well maybe two since they both fit your post!!!!

Ya, but I got it brand new sealed box, no dead pixels in CCD, I don't know if it's defective for sure unless some other user posts pic from his N86. I've been using Nokia for a while and I've never seen a defect like that. If the pictures come out with lines or dead pixels or washed out then it's safe to say that the lens is defective. I really hope mine is defective so I can replace it.

I have a little dust. A few specs near the bottom, but very hard to see unless you are looking in sunlight.

Then I do have 1 piece of very visible dust in the middle of the screen. I dropped my phone the other day and it appeared.

But not bad at all. My n82 was horrible with dust. I used to take the screen off at least once a month to clean it out.
