*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

All the reviews of the N85 said the slide mechanism and build quality were better than the N95 too, we won't know until this gets a wider release.

At the very least, at least we know the camera has escaped the problems the N97 camera faces in terms of scratching..

I can't remember exactly which blog it was (I think it was The Nokia Blog) posted a "How-To" on searching the FCC database for Nokia phones. This was just a few days ago.

I hear you but I don't think my eyes can deal with these smallish screens any longer. I'm losing my sight rapidly.

And that is not really a wallpaper in my sig. It is this transparent wallpaper over the N86 theme:

The sky is definitely not white. That house is white.

It's funny you mention that, where were those pics taken? I live in chicago and that's exactly how the sky looks today. And how it usually looks, very hazy. Other high pollution cities are like that too and I probably didn't notice the sky in the pic since I'm used to the sky looking like that. Compared to someone that came up here from st louis and one of the first things he said was the sky looks strange here.

I don't have any of those build quality issues. Only the slider has a litte play when multimedia keys are exposed. Probably since there is no spring on that side putting pressure on it.

Vsun isn't too good. Not playable. Vsun plus has no sound. Vbag and Vnes are much better. Definitely very playable. All these apps haven't been worked on in 2-3 years, which is a shame.

Yeah, I can see how the black is more generic. But I'm not convinced about the white. White plastic seems so overdone by Apple at this point. It's like the original iMac that was translucent. That seemed super cool at the time. Then everyone started copying it. It quickly came to seem really cheesy. White plastic has gone that way for me. I'd rather see something like a metal backing, to add a little class. But of courses, I get that this is entirely personal preference.

The N97 is gonna be up there in price although European users can get it subsidized on a contract. For us North Americans that's not an option. The Touch Pro2, on the other hand, will be subsidized on contract on carriers like T-Mobile [with the ubiquitous carrier crapware, no less].

The N86 looks nice but as of now I'm sold on the Touch Pro2.

Finaldecision - I forgot what website had samples uploaded, as well as video, but they were FAR more impressive than your pictures. Your pictures aren't any better than my n79, and they might be worse.

I've been toying around with my replacement N86:

-apart from a sticky "3" button, build quality on the slide seems better. I think it's just a placebo. Maybe it being a "newer" phone also has something to do with this.

-call quality sounds the same; I've gotten used to it, so it doesn't bother me anymore

-directional pad seems crooked on this one as well, so I guess every N86 has some version of this issue

Here's something I noticed: my two N86s are slightly different colors. One is more of a gunmetal gray, the other definitely has a hint of blue (indigo) to it. I thought this was odd, considering they are labeled as the same phone.

I've grown to love this little guy. Can't wait for the new FW to drop-

So i debranded my Rogers N86 and installed the latest firmware. After all was said and done, Rogers Internet, MMS, WAP setting were still there and annoying the hell out of me! They were "protected" and I couldnt delete them. A pop up would show up after few seconds prompting me to "accept Rogers settings as default settings for internet" Crazy stuff. I even had reset the phone from settings. But I realized I had to do a hard reset by *#7370*

That took care of it. All Rogers crap is gone.
