I'm not really interested in what Nokia should have done. I'm interested in what they've actually done and what they might do in the future. Right now the N86 has a software problem with the camera. That's better than having a hardware problem. And it's still a promising camera. There's good reason to believe the software problem could get corrected with a firmware update. I'll wait and see. Lots of perfectly good products have problems when they first come out. Earlier adopters always pay a penalty for this. I prefer to wait until the bugs get worked out (and be sure that they do).
By the way, looking back at the official N82 thread, I see plenty of people griping about it when it first came out. Problems with the browser, feeling like it's cheaply made, a lot of people finding the D-pad to be less than stellar, poor audio quality in the speakers, underperformance from the battery, people describing the screen as dull and lacking brightness. And that's just looking through a couple pages of the thread. Here's one person's experience, from December 2007:Long live the N82 indeed.
