i like noah from phonedog i just hate it when he calls a led flash a flash lol. he never says this phone has a led flash. they got good reviews but they hardly keep up im still waiting for the n96 review. lol

How is everyone's slider? Mine doesn't seem so hot:

- it wobbles when I have the media buttons exposed and am pushing the directional pad. If I shake it while in media mode, you can literally hear the phone makes a clicking noise...there are ZERO signs of this noise on my almost two year-old N95.

- it wobbles when the slider is closed and I push the camera button. Further, if the slider is closed while using the camera, pushing the directional pad makes it wobble as well.

I'm so disappointed...I thought this thing was going to be "solid" as a tank like many online reviews had posted. Maybe I got a bad unit, but so far, my N86's slider wobbles, the back cover creaks when I text if I don't put a small piece of paper in there (just like my old N80), and my directional pad is slightly off-center.

I'm trying to LOVE this phone, but I just can't deal with crap build quality anymore.

probably similar to the photolight on some of the se models, enough to light a room and not have blue pictures. But not have the quality of xenon, but it is possible to have a somewhat decent LED

I've had my N95-3 as my primary since the day it was released, and it's lasted me all of this time. While I do think the N86's keyboard is a little stiff and the call quality is a little worse than the N95, it's the best and most complete Nseries (maybe even phone) out right now.

I'd give it a shot-

Some of us never gave it up!

Now that the full V21 firmware is available via NSU or Navifirm, you can try the V21 upgrade again via the PC.
The OTA update may have had issues that didn't show up at first.

So, due to my extreme frustration with the N86 for it's poor call quality, when dealing with background noise, I went out and tested the Droid at a Verizon store. The Droid, like most Motorola phones, has noise cancelling techology (Cyrstal Talk). Having never had a Motorola phone I wanted to see what this is like.

I have to say it was night and day. There was music playing in the Verizon store and the N86 picked that up and overamplified it, making all kinds of noise while I was talking. My caller said that with the Droid they couldn't hear any background noise at all.

I tried leaving myself voicemail messages on both phones and found the same thing. I will say my voice sounded a little muffled on the Droid, compared to the N86. And the sound in the earpiece on the Droid was not as good quality as the N86, in terms of fidelity of sound reproduction. That said, the Droid was perfectly good. Just not as high quality as the N86. So the irony is that Nokia seems to get every other aspect of call quality right, but drops the ball so badly on background noise it completely overwhelms those advantages.

So hey, noise cancellation works. Go figure. And it's been around for years. Get with it Nokia.

I am curious to know which slider phone has the best build quality. Even the Sony Ericsson W995 which feels like a gold brick in hand has slider issues and the loose feel to the battery cover which is pretty common these days with all SE phones.

Does Samsung Innov8 have any build quality issues? In pictures it feels solid :) .

Yeah, the camera is much better. I bet a lot of people are blurring their pictures because of how the button is hard to push. Once you learn to keep it stable, the pics were clear even in v11. Haven't taken many pics yet with v20, but did notice with v11 when I tried to macro very close to something, it wouldn't focus. Now you can get close.

I formatted my mass memory and did a hard format. Some of my icons were screwed up and also had a puzzle piece in the apps menu that was annoying me. Hard reset took care of it.

One thing a hard reset didn't take care of, and seems to be a bug is opening the contacts menu spawns 2 contacts processes. If you look in handy taskman you can see a contacts that should be there, and one that is a puzzle piece. Probably has something to do with ovi chat/contacts.

it may be worth noting that the few reviews I've seen suggests that build quality on this IS better than the n85/n95/n96......yeah, yeah - show samples, but nonetheless.....

Mine has everything you described but the light leak. I'm sending mine back, but I don't know if I'm going to get another one. I LOVE this phone, but the slider play and poor call quality just makes me want to throw it against the wall.

You just have to decide if the slider is a deal breaker or not. At this point in the game, it's a deal breaker for me.

...two years and we are still dealing with the same ish.
