*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

I just came back from the Nokia Store (NYC). I was not impressed with the n86. Playing around with the display models I got a good feel for the device and how it would fair after some abuse. I guess it is the best in the nseries but an nseries none the less. Ofcourse i will take care of mine if I were to get one!!!

- I did not like the center OK button on the Dpad (There is no separation as on the e71).
- Weight feels good and not toy-ish as on the n95.
- Display model slider had some give- just a bit of wobble.
- Over all the n97 feels more solid.

I am just going to wait for October.
- October 11, Satio release.
- October 10, n97 v20 release.
- October 14, windows 6.5 on Tg01.

I hope they get the Internet Radio fixed. I use it to stream all kinds of stuff from my home pc. If I cant add stations manually, then it really makes me think twice about buying the N86. Internet Radio was one of the reasons that I got rid of my 5800.

Not me...I want to be totally surprised. I know it sounds crazy, but every phone I've owned I've had the chance to play with one before I bought it...

...I want this thing to be totally new and fresh when I first open it up :hehehe:

I played around with the N86 (Euro/Asia version) today and the keypad was very stiff. Does anyone find the keypad hard to press? Also sliding the phone to the multimedia keys was abit tight as well. I'm sure in time it will loosen up. This is the second N86 I tested out and they were both like that.
It does feel nice in the hands though.

So disappointed that this still isn't out. It looks like my only two choices are the N97 provided v20 helps the ram and c: space or a 32gb 3gs which I will feel like a fool for buying considering it's for all intents and purposes the exact same phone I have now :(

Amazing. More proof that the teams within nokia seem to have some kind of lack of communication. I'm sure that could've prevented a lot of returns with the N97.

I agree that the resolution is small - and I really WANT S60 with higher resolution on non-touchscreen; but I think Nokia learned harshly from what they did with with the N80, E70, and others with that oddball high resolution that ticked off developers.

I don't care for Xenon if just a small MP bump and no new REAL technology is offered showing the quality of pics to be significant. Lets face it the majority of ANYONE's pics are in the day and with considerable ambient light (even dark pics); unless you're an Undertaker ;) .

Are you kidding me? You're in LA, CA and you're satisfied with EDGE and Xenon? Just how much does Xenon improve YOUR pictures in the majority of your photos?! I'll get back to how much of an upgrade this is EVEN without the Xenon ppl keep whining over.

An example of someone that didn't listen to all the keynotes; you're not truely realizing the value you're getting. You also didn't read the thread with N85 issues depending on where they where built pissing a few ppl off. The Dpad being so stiff.

Its an improvement trust me! If this takes pretty close to pictures in any situation to an SE C905, or Idou, or W995 (no Xenon); then I'd be VERY happy with the N86.

I'm gona be coming from a 2mp non-AF Bold camera. A 8mp AF camera with dual-led flash is an EXPONENTIAL upgrade

Assuming I get this phone, which I wont, but yea.

Dont let this thread fall down..... Comon peeps the best camera in a mobile device. Im gonna be on top of this!

Cant wait till this drops, and can see it compared with others.

I think something weird is going on with v20. I just got a brand new replacement. I was testing out the camera at the store and when I opened the camera lens, I got a black screen then it went back to the main menu. Tried it a few times and it did the same thing. Afterwards it worked. I'm charging it now. I'm going to do a hard reset anyway since I don't have anything installed in my phone yet.
