*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

Yeah, but the 2mpx camera in the Iphone takes better pics than the 3.2mpx AF camera in the E71....I think we should wait to see comparison shots of the new 3mpx cam phone with AF in the Iphone 3GS before making judgement on how well it takes pictures in low light.

No scratches, but I got mine on last thursday and have only used it in my house setting it up. I will be using it over the holidays, I am sure, but during the week I will be using my 9700 for work.

I originally bought one in late sept and had it for 1 month and used it as my main phone and didn't have any scratches when I returned it.

Actually its in the same location as the Share Online 4.0 and the OVI notification; but you can ONLY see it on Nseries site where you can select any of the released N-Series and it shows the N86 when first launching that site with different notifications.

Found it ... but the original N-Series page is no longer live :(

Pay special attention to the SMS notification where the current Share Online 4.0 was in my previous post.

I have a generic unlocked NAM N86. After the upgrade to v21, I get something like this too. When I turn the phone off, there's a lag where the graphics are all chopped up, showing part of the messaging screen at the top. It's a bit weird.

But overall I feel like v21 is an improvement over v11 and v20. Some chunky graphics on shutdown don't bother me that much.

Yes, but when it comes to Nokia, you need to expect a curveball. If the N97 can do 7.2 and they throttled it back to 3.6. Then anything that can do 10.2 Nokia will throttle back to 7.2. At least then we will be able to use the available speeds.

Will a firmware change allow the N97 to use the 7.2 speeds in a year, if available???

Hi all,
I am an owner of a N82, I am very happy but I always like the dual slider and I always found the N82 screen very small.
I am thinking in buying the N86 (I like all the specs and I am happy with the dual led).
I have seen hundreds of photos of the N86, but I would like to have the opinion of real owners about if the screen is big enough to read in a pleasant way RSS, Web pages, email etc.
Sometimes I think that I can wait or buy one with a bigger screen, but I have the sensation that the n97 mini has the same screen width that the N86 (not in diagonal, horizontal), and I am OK with scrolling.
Thanks
JP

When i read "new better sensor" and "new better lens," i'm hoping that this improves the quality to the same level as my nikon coolpix the way it performs at night (or at least closer then the n95's camera). That's where i'm hoping the improvements show.

If its all a gimmick then we'll find out in time.

HMMMM?????

Samsung introduced some TouchWiz phones (see... not a standardized operating system).

Samsung also introduced the Omnia HD. Pretty much a rehash of the N97 but they forgot to include a keyboard and tried to make up for it by using OLED for the screen. Samsung also pumped the camera up an extra 3MP for still pictures but managed to someohe get lower resolution video.

SE announced a phone that will likely not be released sooner than MWC 2010 and an unremarkable dumbphone with another higher resolution camera that shoots lower resolution video.

You were distracted by something shiny but I do not think it was the limelight.

I have had my N86 for a week now and my slider is still as it was when I got it, there is no movement at all with it, still very tight, I really liked my N85 but this phone is so much better than it ever was. Sorry to hear about everyone's troubles, I have had none at all with my N86!! :2thumbs:

are we talking about psychology or cellphones ? if they make **** you will spend a lot of time and money keep on trying . if they can't get it right the first time they need to invest in QC . Only a fool would continue to purchase the same defective phone over and over again in hopes one of them turns out right . psychology is good in attaining personal goals. Not when you want to buy a defective free phone .

I wanted to use the N86 for my new website http://www.ticketforhealth.com this site follows my weigh loss without surgery of over 80 pounds lost eating real foods , I thought it would be great to take qaulity pphotos on my walks and video of making some meals ... Funny I have owned several Nokia phones and the ONLY ONE that has given me problems was the one I purchased from them which is an E51 that I still have.

keeping my N82, this is not much of an upgrade--more a downgrade in my books. no xenon flash? really? although the dual-LED is rated at 3.5 meters, we'll have to see
and after owning an N80 for 6 months, i vowed never to get another slider again. too many wobbles.

Hmmmm with all these problems me thinks I'm going to either wait or get another phone. I will hold judgement until the NA version comes out.....maybe they will have fixed it by than......at least that's what I'm hoping.

If you do, you had better have a good story to tell them because they will not cancel it if you just ask them to, the first time I called they told me no they would not cancel it, so I called again the next day and told them a whole different reason for canceling and they finally did do it.

yeah...until we see some side-by-sides, it's not worth arguing over whether this is an upgrade or not.
but if the answer is "the xenon flash went away b/c the capacitor for a xenon is too big and we couldn't get it into the slider form factor" then that would be a big mistake.
