*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

I kinda think I know where he's coming from. Some guys on here said their first N85 had top notch build and have never had issues. I went through 5 different phones until I finally gave up and realized a N85 with good build was the exception rather than the rule.

there is not definition of what a smartphone is. Its a marketing term used to sell the product. Anyone that does anything other than text and dial could be considered a smartphone.

Has anyone found a good working Flashlight APP for the n86?

thanks

i agree HOnda, my 9700 never drops the connection whie my n86 does numerous times and then with the n86 its not easy to pair back, with the 9700 things are much simpler in that way. :buddies:

UPDATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOOD DETECTIVE WORK gwapz!!!! :buddies:

You're right, the same thing happens with my N85 and E75 ,,, cannot add any stations but the app will play anything station previously saved.

Hope this gets fixed soon

Well, amazon says my phone shipped :clapping:, the tracking number doesnt pull up yet but I'm sure it will soon. Should be here monday.

I waited a month for Nokiausa.com (canceled today), ordered this afternoon with amazon, now it will be here monday

Nokia probably ships first to the people who buy the most.

Rumour has it that the N86 will be blessed with a new firmware before years end.....that means within the next 2 weeks.

Hope they speed up the phone as I today went back to my N95 as I find that phone faster than my N86.

Yeah, tell me about it. On a slightly different topic, I bought an 80gb PS3 at a store in Greenhills called Rockfire. Long story short, the PS3 was defective and I couldn't use it even once. I brought it back to get replaced, and they not only refused, but the wife of the owner of the store got so angry that she attacked me. SERIOUSLY. I've NEVER heard of anything like that happening. And this was a permanent store with a business permit, not just some stall. She even did it again in front of a security guard! I filed a complaint with the Greenhills administration, reported it to the police, and sent a letter to the Department of Trade and Industry requesting an investigation. I have a slight bruise from the struggle. I would have sued the ***** if I weren't leaving the country too soon to go through the lengthy legal process. So, yeah, if you do go back to the Philippines, avoid a store called Rockfire in VMall, 3rd floor!!

I'm using Optus (my Australian provider) on roaming and Smart on another phone (my parents keep an extra line open for when one of us kids comes back to visit).

Perhaps you haven't used that many Nokia phones, because if you had, you would realize that Nokia is just about as inconsistent as it gets when it comes to two different people with the exact same phone, while one device can have a very sturdy slider, no creaks or wobbles, & the very same other handset will be plagued with all kinds of build anomalies.

It isn't as uncommon as you think. Quality control can vary greatly from one manufacturing facility to another.

Battery life is comparable to my N85. For me battery life is more than adequate. Can't remember how it was on the N82 ....

btw, the images are very nice "for a phone", lol

Thanks for the advice, but I think I'll just wait until the firmware comes out for my product code. I'd rather not do all that tinkering :P

Anyone that has a n86 with the square.

I'm also wondering if the gap is wider on those. One picture I saw looked like it was, but then another didn't. Maybe if you have one in your hand, you can compare it to the picture. Talking about the yellow thing that touches the lens. Basically on mine (like the picture) it's as wide as the most outer circle.

Thanks.

You may not like the aesthetics, but, the actual design of the N86 is leagues above the N85. No sticky-taped nav pad, no flat numerical pad and the battery cover is the entire back of the phone, which should lead to less creaking.

The Rogers' one is very buggy. I'm on my 3rd one. The last one rebooted a few times and the screen stayed on while the phone was not in use. It started to overheat, so I got another one. The one I have now is better.
