*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

Ok, thought you meant the ovi on the standby screen. The ovi tab is still there for me, but doesn't bother me. Having ovi on the standby screen would be kinda annoying.

N86 owners!

Have ANY of your low light pictures came out grainy/blurred like the N95 or N97 would make? Regardless if they are too dark or not. I just want to know about grain and lack of sharpness.

Every year same story: "something amazing will come next year".

Yeah right.

What is this round 3 or round 4 of the "next year something amazing will come" game?

Nokia CEO/Technical Director/Moron showed me something that was amazing it is coming out next year. Let me tell you this an iPhone killer for sure. It will have a resistive screen and ARM 11 but it will fly because it says Nokia on it. Don't let the specs fool you. The software will make it fly, the software is so amazing. Symbian Foundation is the best thing since the wheel. It won't support multitouch, but the interface will knock you out. Let me tell you: orbit, screenplay and freeway, direct UI. This stuff is like nectar from the *** of an angel. It will rule. And I saw it all first hand. It was amazing. Really I'm not lying. You must believe me. I'm so connected up in there that I get carried off the plane by Finnish virgins and rose petals get thrown in front of the path of my bearers.

This is exactly what I am trying to decide. But I also threw in the E72 and the N97 mini.

Since I am upgrading from the N82, I keep looking at the N86, just because of the camera. But I keep thinking, what else am I really getting for my money??
The screen is the same size, the battery is not that much better, the camera is marginally better.

With the N97 or the N97 mini, I get the larger touchscreen and the qwerty. I tried out the 5800 but found the touchscreen too difficult and inaccurate.

The E72 would give me great battery life, the qwerty keyboard, and hopefully a better camera. When I tried out the E71, I liked most everything about it, except the 2.5mm headphone jack, and terrible camera.

I hate the thought of using two devices (one for camera and one for daily use) But I dont see the N86 as giving me enough for my money to upgrade from the N82.

Hello all. Im using this phone as a secondary phone to my iphone. Everytime I insert the sim card, this phone asks to send a text message. Does anyone have an idea of where this message is going and whats in it?

Is there any difference, in terms of features, between 0580950 and 0590552? In particular I'm wondering if there's a product code for the NAM phone that will get me firmware with the ability to turn off the shutter sound on the camera. This is possible with the European firmware, right? I found the list below of NAM product codes, from here: http://www.thephoneclub.net/firmwar...m-n86-n81-8gb-n900-libres-y-de-companias.html

In theory should any of these codes work, on my phone that I intend to use in the U.S.? Would the LTA version have the shutter diabling feature, if not the 0580950? Thanks for any further information.

Also, any tips, if I'm going to do this, on things to avoid so I don't brick my phone?

- I've had phones where the speaker was in the back and it didn't really affect me in terms of missing calls.

- A lot of manufacturer's seems to have issues with the battery cover design lately. The one lock battery door is the same as the Onyx, so that seems to be the trend.

- I never had any issues with the Antenna placement

- I rarely have my phone on vibrate, so this is not a concern for me.

- It's an upgrade to the E71, so naturally I will get the E72 over the E71.

That's great! I had the E71 and had a hard time getting email to work on that thing. But since I'm hearing great things about Profimail, it will make the transition from a BB to the E72 abit easier. Thanks for responding. :buddies:

Sorry to go off topic. I was going to buy the N86 which is why I have been following this thread. But I had a change of heart.

If you are in an area where you dont have to pay sales tax on Dell purchases, the N86 can be bought for as low as $357 with free shipping. (with Bing Cash Back) My total would be $387. I am still going to wait. I think by the end of October this phone will be priced at $300. Plus, I am still considering the N97 or the E72.

You commented about truphone. Does the N86 not have a SIP/Internet Telephone like the n82?
I use gizmo on my n82 and it works flawlessly.

Are you having any problems using the keypad? I really like the feel of my n82, the n86 keys look much flatter (although much larger too)
