*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

actually prefer the black one myself.....same with the N97 I think black looks better. The white is simply too white for me.

Regardless, it seems like Nokia doesn't want to release for some reason the N86 NAM anytime soon. Maybe all the resources being taken up for manufacturing of the new Rover.

and i think he mentioned that there is more to come, its not like that's the end all be all of n86 camerae review from AAS. i think he tried to setup situations where he limited variables to show the n86 sensor in certain controlled environment. and obviously i think he is trying to drag us along with a "teaser" since he knows we are all waiting for the mother load, the pitch black, dark, no light conditions. that's what we all wanna see, and while i bet the n86 will perform better than previous models, and it will actually be decent, it CERTAINLY isnt gonna be as good as the xenon n82.

Yeah, that's part of why I want the N86. I think it will be the last great phone of its kind. (Although I have to say this whole internet radio not working thing is really making me think twice.)

This is the Flash in full darkness about five feet away.

Overall I am really impressed.

Yes, its the same as the flagship n97. This was one of the reasons why I was looking at the E72. It has 10.2 mbps :wow:

On second thought, I really like the indigo color too but why did they make the button backlight green?

Also anyone who has this phone right now, I'm just curious does the keyboard have the usual nokia uneven lighting? And how clicky/easy is it to press the keys?

I think it's more of a desire to be heard(or read, as it were). He or anyone can say "F*ck the N86!" and "F*ck an N97!" and still end up buying either or both but still vent and rant just because to be heard on their grievances, IMO.

Press the 5 key to turn 'Align map north' off and the compass on. Nokia needs to add a seperate compass on and compass off setting with defaults and also add 'Align map to route' which is missing when not navigating.

My logic of comparing phones is what most reviewers would do. Would you ever compare a pickup truck to a family sedan? No! They are completely different vehicles in their own class. Just like the N86 is in a different category and you cannot compare it to the iPhone, Pre and Android. Again, one is a smartphone the others are PDA's.

To say the N86 is old technology compared to the iPhone, Pre and Android phones is ridiculous. They are not in the same class. As what you said, the iPhone, Pre and Android phones are becoming more like computers. The N86 is not meant to act like a computer. It's a multimedia phone with a physical keypad. A lot of people still use regular looking phones as oppose to the iPhone.

The N86 NAM is not even out yet. So I don't think anyone can answer your question right now. We can't go by specs and a couple of reviews. Until some Hofo members buy the phone, then we can get an idea of what the phone is all about.
