what are you talking about? The North American firmware update is available today. The Rogers one, on the other hand, is not.

As much as I like to cool factor of a slider, the bottom line is all of these phones have moving parts. Moving parts wear out or the mechanisms need to be manufactured with materials and tolerances that a phone manufacturer just can't do. The only way to get away from it is not to have them. I know its boring.

I've been using N97 and N86 for two weeks now and it's uncomfortable to take two phones at work, I've uploaded numerous shots by N86 in this thread and N97 shots in N97's thread. As I said repeatedly, every online sample shots are stunning when compared to my N86, that time N86 was not released. Gsmarena has confirmed that N86's camera algorithm is not good and I'm yet to take a stunning shot with my N86, no matter what the settings and light conditions are, there is relatively a lot of noise.Compare for yourself and NO N86 is not defective which initially I thought it was when I compared my shots with online. I've tried two different N86. I cannot tell for sure, but N86 camera needs software tweaking, may be I just rushed into buying initial batch. After two weeks of use, I'm believing that N86 is a capable camera, but needs a quick firmware update.I personally think i8910 takes the best shots. Sorry guys, this is the best I could do.I don't like carrying two phones with me so enjoy the shots!

I really like my N86 but I'm getting an N900 next month.

After 5 years or so I'm bored with S60. Really looking forward to a change, and to browse comfortably without Opera Mini.

And 4 standby screens :clapping:

btw...

How are you N86 folk handling your storage. If I get one I'm thinking 16gb microSD card for the music/movies and the 8gb internal storage for photos/videos. So far on my N97 I've taken up about 15gb total with plenty to spare. Not sure if I ever need to fill that up.

Celly Cam technology is coming along nicely.

I am going to drop by the NY flagship store today - let you guys know if its out yet. If it is I will pick it up. I actually passed on the N97 and will wait for the refresh model. But for now It is a toss up between:
Samsung Omnia HD
Nokia e52
Nokia n86

I agree about this being the place to rant, but why rant about something you claim not to want? the sad thing is he will buy n86 and n97 and complain about both even though he knows right now that he doesnt want them and wont like them.

even though its already behind other manufacturers 8mp slides, it will still be relevant because nokia has a strong following. people will ignore others and wait until this phone launches, regarless of timing. im not sure what the OS is, but the s8300 looks pretty sweet right now. slightly bigger screen, more pixels and the price isnt too bad.

I agree. This is the next hot phone from them with ATT 3G and we can't even get our hands on it...it's like they don't want our money. I just hope they are waiting to release it because they are cooking up a new FW - - that's the only excuse I'll buy at this point.

Personally I think the N85 will do just fine; especially a quality used model, yet trial & error may take too much time.

N86 is a lovely device; but I'm thinking with 6mths life - estimated time when a device ships with Symbian^2 we'll all want it instead. And I'm not talking about the SE Idou either.

lolz, your talking about a phone that doesn't multitask out of the box.. Also bare in mind that your phone has 256MB of RAM and a processing speed of 600mhz.

Damn!! Hate that Fruit Company in Cupertino..

I'm running the V11 firmware for the N86 and I've noticed that Active Notes has just decided to up and quit on me. Since I've upgraded I haven't been able to open it at all! It just says "System error" whenever I click on it. Also, the Real Player seems to have been 'upgraded' as well; some videos that I used to be able to play before upgrading now only play the audio. Sounds like a codec issue.

On the plus side, the upgrade seems to have made my phone more stable. The issue with the keys not lighting up hasn't appeared once, and the phone isn't freezing upon startup anymore. Still, I'm puzzled by the glitches the new firmware has brought. Any N86 owners have the same problems?
