*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia N86 8MP

A couple of the sources that have been right before have said it's the 22nd.

Right now i'm really hoping it's true, my e71 warranty is up on 9/7 and i desperately need a speaker replacement.

update,
I just went to nokia usa, clicked on the chate with a rep, asked the release date and they replied "sometime next week".

Sorry couldn't get the official image from the Nseries page its in flash.

it has been commented on in this thread already. its better than your current phone. taking many pics has a noticeable drain on the battery, but if you dont take many pics during the day my experience has been that battery life is really good, and i talk and text and surf all day

Hmm, I think I'm pretty much set on the N86 right now ... the E55 I was hoping to be released by now so that it can drop in price middle of May. I've got 3 huge purchases to make - should things roll well. but this N86, the better camera for road trips or night club pics & TV out are seriously appealing to me. E55 though looks sweet as well.

Damn, Nokia designers are getting better at the game lately.

Then the N97 ... I'm wondering if by November something better will begin to ship.

Check this image out guys and gals:

Took this tonight (while dark) using twilight mode. Picture didn't look too good on my phone's screen, but I think it came out quite decent.

Unrelated Edit:

Download the Shazam application from Ovi, and it comes with this very cool, solid black theme that looks great on the AMOLED screen.

You dont need one person to do all of the picture taking. Is it too much to ask to have one person carry an N82 and another carry the n86. Each taking very similiar, if not the same pictures through the evening.

Although it's not officially supported yet the new Nokia Maps 3.03 with free voice navigation works great on the N86.

I downloaded the version for E72.

I like this new version, even gives you a few days' weather forecast.

Only drawback so far is the compass functionality isn't there, but hopefully they'll add it when they formally support the N86.

I could see turning in the first and trying a second, just in case you got a bad unit. But when the second one turned out to have similar build issues it might have been time to call it quits on that model.

Definition of "insane": doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result each time. ;)

I found the Q1 to have the most robotic, digitized sounding voice quality, of the headsets I tried. I actually felt (for me at least) the Sound ID 400 was hands down the most comfortable. I guess it just depends on one's ears.

The Plantronics 975 had great natural sounding voice quality, the best of all of them except the Voyager Pro. And it had a nice fit. But as I said I can't remember if it had the connection issues the Voyager Pro has with my N86. And it wasn't so great at noise cancelling (at least in cafe settings with background music and other people talking).

In many ways I actually felt the Motorola HX1 in regular CystalTalk mode had the best noise cancelling and it connected up with the N86 really well. But I didn't like the fit on it, because of the way it goes into the ear canal for the bone conduction thing. And the volume in the earpiece was a little low. Still, if I was going to have this style of small bluetooth headset, I'd probably look for another Motorola with CrystalTalk and a more normal fit. Except for the fit issue, all around the HX1 was the best of the small discreet headsets that I tried. That and I still think the 975 is worth trying, if you can return it if you don't like it.

The 3G on T-Mobile is not going to work at all. The 2100 is misleading, but it's not the same thing.

By the way, I noticed that the blurring on the earlier pics that was pointed out was in the pics I took when I held the phone vertically and took the picture that way. The horizontal ones seemed fine. I'm thinking the cause of the blur was a combination of the poorly designed camera button and my inexperience with it. Hopefully it's something I can just get used to.

There was a thorough discussion about using gps with and without agps when the n95 came out. The guys having difficulties should search for old threads and read them as the technology really hasn't changed. The info might even be in the sticky in the s60 forum under gps for beginners. you will not be able to get quick gps locks without using agps. Period.
If you have updated and are having issues make sure that your destination settings are correct and that your data access points are configured correctly if you are using agps. When I debranded my rogers unit and updated it to version 20 software I was having issues until I checked and adjusted those settings. Now it works great as I use agps.
