*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

You never have the issue of it deleting your saved word entries in t9? I was constantly having to re-enter words that I use all the time that are not in the t9 dictionary.

do you notice that the bottom part looks so big???

could that be the GPS antenna??? i kinda hate it when they put GPS antenna there, it should be on the top...

yes in the tmobile forum an employee posted the 3g rollout plan/schedule for this year. septemeber will go live with 3G in las vegas and los angeles only, but it will only be a "soft" launch, which means its just testing i think. it seems like tmobile's plans for "top 25 markets" by end of this year is gonna be tight.

This interests me greatly too. Although the volume is fine
on my E51, heavier use made me see the benefits of a QWERTY
keypad. So in the interim I had gotten a used E61i on eBay,
complete with updated firmware. Should have read about
volume issues first - it is a BIG problem! Between the
actual volume, the shape of the phone, and the narrow
"sweet spot" it's a real chore to use this in noisy
environments. Each time I have to fiddle with it endlessly,
press it tight against my ear, and hope that it doesn't
move. The E51 I just place next to me ear and use, with no
such issues. I'm desparately hoping that the E71 has
adequate volume and sweet spot too.

cbreze; Opera Mobile won't run on my E71, the d-pad doesn't trigger anything so I'm unable to select stuffs. Opera Mini, however, does work perfect. I use UCWEB6 and the S60 browser though.

hi,
I just bought a Nokia 6120 classic as a backup phone until I get a better one. One thing I absolutely love about it as opposed to my stolen N95 8Gb is the speed of it, it doesn't have that lag when opening the menu or switching between screens, everything is snappy and instantaneous.
What I would like to know if the E71 is as responsive as the 6120 is? I don't think I can ever go back to a phone that has a laggy processor even though it has hardware acceleration like the N95.

Nokia had a few bad years before they got back on track...I think SE is due to get back on track and from the announcements so far this year, I'm impressed....let's just hold off on bashing SE until they release one of the new phones and gets a review.

Hi Marc

I have to agree with you. Clearly BB's have been trying to capture the mass market by releasing BB devices with 3.5mm jacks and updated several software fronts like Facebook and Flickr.....The lines between the N-series and E-series will need to cross sometime as when BB finally improves their camera, it will be a real threat for Nokia in Mass market devices. By leaving out multimedia features Nokia is shooting themselves in the foot IMHO. Had the E71 integrated better multimedia, it would definitely capture more market in the USA. For people like me whom want a good messaging device (not as good as BB) with great multimedia included the E71 could have been a killer device...but some multimedia features are a disappointment.

The Iphone 3G will be available in 70 countries by this year.
20 countries will have the iphone 3g on july 11 and that includes HongKong too.

edit: dam my post was a second late
