*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

There is this language called Spanish. It has more letters than ours. Those letters you call symbols may just be letters in that language.

Less snarky: Look at pictures of other E71s. The one BG got has the Spanish keyboard layout. I've seen photos of others that are English only. Personally? I had an E61 with the Spanish layout, it didn't bother me.

i was never aware of this qwerty button layout issue until the e71. i've heard it compared to the BB phones. so i checked the e71 vs BB vs a real PC keyboard, and i dont get it. either the left side (Q-A-Z) match a real keyboard (like the e71), or the right side (P-L-M) match a real keyboard (like the black berry). so either way its either one side or the other that isnt quite right. so whats the big deal really?

When I had my e61i it had lots of metal that would get some fine scratches over time. I was able to keep the screen scratch free which matters most. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I would prefer the e66, but either one has that rather smallish screen that I have to get past. Coming from screens that are 2.8" it will matter I'm sure. Think I'll actually excercise a bit of restraint with this one.

Maybe Nokia will try to steal some of Steve Jobs thunder and announce that the E71 is released AND immediately available. Maybe RIM will do the same with the Bold. Maybe pigs will fly too.

Whos gonna start the "official E71 Bugs and Why the Heck did Nokia release this phone before it was Ready?" thread? :hehehe:

I know US well.

I tried that and it just hung. It worked after I turned the phone off and on again :)

Thanks!

Does anyone else get occasional ~1-5 second long breaks in audio when they are listening to music with A2DP headphones? I'm getting this whether I'm sitting down or walking around with my Samsung SBH500 headphones.

Is it the WiFi interfering or something?

I'm assuming the N71 has the familiar S60v3 e-mail app. You can read HTML e-mails with standard formatting preserved (color, bold, italics, font sizes), but you can only create and send mail in plain text.

Finally got it working. I deleted the isync plugin and reinstalled it. Had to reset the phone and restart my mac and it seems to be working now.

Thanks for the help

Yeah hopefully its not that bad. I'll do the same, just wait till I finally get it and see for myself.

One thing I hope Nokia has is a good holster solution fro the E71. A full qwerty phone needs a good holster IMO. I always keep my phone holstered/cased and that keeps them looking good and lint free. I hate that I cant find a good one for the N82, there out there but I want OEM quality. I REALLY hope Nokia has a good holster ready for the E71.

Yeah, looks like the Nokia battery is huge in fact. It appears that Nokia has thought the battery life issue out...

I have always been amazed at the battery life of pretty much every BlackBerry I have ever owned...the Curve in particular. Why does the BlackBerry have such success with battery life compared to other smartphones? I mean, there is just as much going on with it as is going on with others...although I realize that up until the Bold, there hasn't been a 3G BB. The BlackBerry battery is pretty small compared to most of the competition...

Thank You..

and you will get this E71 when it comes out.. Why? When it comes out and people start getting excited you will get into the hype, sell whatever phone you have and buy this phone..

This is like a cycle here in HOFO!! I thought I was going to settle on my Nokia 3390, and look where I am @ now :D .. Always wanting more and more...

Most of these things aren't aimed at "just business" users anymore...the CEO wants to have his MP3s handy too, and they may as well be in the same device. ;) That's why you see Nokia, RIM, and Microsoft getting so close in feature sets. You're right about the key differentiation being on the server side...and it's not just BES anymore...they have Blackberry Professional Server now too, for smaller companies (it maxes at 30 users). Everyone's trying to increase their flexibility in order to compete with the other two big players.

It would NOT surprise me one bit if Nokia soon comes out with some sort of Enterprise Server competitor or something.

Sorry to hear about your woes but you will more than likely receive your phone from Rose. Yes it is probably difficult to correspond with an online retailer in Singapore but he/she has delivered for others so your chances are good for getting the phone plus you will get your live search money back as part of the process. All is not lost

well all s60 phones keep all inbound texts, but they delete your sent messages pretty quickly. so my conversations only show my last 10 messages i sent, then its just all their replies. all my phones have been this way, kinda sucks. and i've never been able to send an MMS from conversations, i always have to use the messaging app to compose and send one of those.
