*OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia E71

its official, the e71 is one beautiful phone!! So much smaller in person. The switch app worked well to transfer my contacts however it was way too slow doing anything else so I only used it for contacts and stopped it afterwards.

sorry if this has been answered before, i have read most of this thread but not all. are you sure you have the e71-3? if yes, have you tried it anywhere besides your home (i mean have to driven towards downtown, etc)?

You just found out about that..

Dude.. It kicked the thinnest of my E51 when I was holding both..

So I think it will be perfectly normal for the E71 to get warm when talking on the phone...

this annoys me greatly. why are ANY cell phone sellers offering the UK version of this phone when a US version is a known fact. again its the byproduct of nokia making multiple versions of the same phone. but when all variants are announced from the beginning, only US versions should be sold here.

What BB offers is nothing compared to other smart phones like Nokia N or E series. So, there is not much to do in BB & also non-3G is another major factor.

Not sure what you mean by "automatically" but, using T9 on my E51, if I want to type the word "won't", I simply press 9-6-6-1-8.

The 1 defaults to a period but it changes "automatically" to an apostrophe when I hit 8.

My reception inside work was way better with the e71 than it was with the curve. Love the little 3g symbol up there.

However, I still cant connect to my mac even with the update. Anyone else get theirs working?

I'm glad some of you have had success with the sports tracker app. It crashed on my marathon and only recorded 15 miles. Not sure what caused it, but that was enough to turn me away from it for critical runs. I may still use it if I decide not to use the gps feature on my running watch.

One more little quirk/fault, but easily corrected with a restart. I leave my mail app open for the wonderful constant updates and notifications. I can't tell you how much I love this feature. It's like getting the great Blackberry mail without giving up S60 or getting locked into Blackberry's proprietary little world.

But after two days with the phone constantly on, plugged in at night for charging, unplugged in the morning to be slipped into it's sleeve and my pocket for the day, my E71-1 quit responding to the dedicated Messaging key. All other keys functioned normally, and I could access mail via the Menu > Communications > Messaging. I also noticed that I would receive the "new message" alert tone, I would see the little screen icon in the upper right for new mail, but I wouldn't get the home screen notifications for email or SMS/MMS. The mail was there and I was alerted, but no on-screen clickable notification. A simple restart cured it and my E71 was back to normal in less than a minute. But there it is. The entire Messaging program lost connectivity with the home screen and dedicated key.

I guess if you want a wedge like the E63 will be, it could have been done. I'd rather get a nice a2dp headset, personally.

As has been discussed endlessly, there isn't enough room in the E71 housing for a 3.5mm jack. (there's enough for a 3.5mm hole, but the jack's workings take up significantly more space)
