I have a question on the wlan/wifi..is there a way to change the wep password after it is entered? On my home wifi setup, i changed the router passkey because the 5800 didnt like the one that i had (prob entered wrong) so i changed it thru the router...then all the other connections dropped off. the 5800 did ok though. Now I changed it back to the old thinking it would be easier to reconfigure the passkey on the 5800 and I cant find an option to reenter? Is it reset time ? Tom
 
I was also not looking forward to doing the hard reset. I read many places that the v31 update has user data preservation. But only after a hard reset does the phone reap the speed benefits. Is this true? Or can i just do the update and get all the speed improvements and not have to do a hard reset? I really don't feel like starting over installing every app again.
 
why are you not using the ATT Internet AP in destinations? if you use that, just set it so that all the wifi connections have higher priority. then the phone will just choose from the list of what's available. i'd leave the wifi scanning to make the process more efficient as it will find the appropriate connection and connect automatically (for wifi).
 
I think you can do this through jbak taskman and some other task managers (replace default app with something else). Haven't tried it though because at the moment the built-in browser as crappy as it is is the only one that supports flash, although it is downlevel.

For those who have the 5800 NAM, do your speakers crack when you play music at full volume? On most of my songs that have bass (ex: US Get on your boots), the speakers just can't handle it when I have the volume at 9/10 or 10/10 which is kinda ironic since I can play it no problem on my e71 and it actually play louder. I wonder if it is an issue with the defect speakers that we heard a couple of weeks ago.
 
I dunno, the email built in on my 5800 is way better than the one on my e71. You get to see much more info on the screen, the emails are grouped by week now, its easy to copy and paste. And i'm way faster using t9 compared to using my e71 for the last 6 months. Just personal preference i guess.
 
Yup, and the music player used to only be visible from the "Shortcuts" home screen. If you used the Contacts screen you couldn't see the music player. But now you can not only see the music player widget, you can have BOTH contacts and shortcuts on the screen at the same time.

The only thing that bugs me about the new contacts screen is that it now takes 4 taps for me to start a new message, while the old contacts screen only required 2. It asks me if I want to send a text message or voice message. Who gives a crap about a voice message? Everyone I know has voice mail and/or an answering machine. And then is asks if I want to send it to the contact's mobile or home phone. WTF? Oh well...

Everything else about the new firmware is great. Speed, responsiveness and stability are all excellent. And auto-switching from T9 to QWERTY when you turn the phone is sweet!
 
I tried to check NSU after I changed my product code back to original and I got a message stating that it's unavailable. Am I on punishment for changing my product code and cheating to get the v31 update?




Yeah, we will be able to watch Live DVB-H mobile tv on our phones. But it requires the SU-33 Nokia Bluetooth DVB-H receiver, or something simmilar to watch it, unless you have an N96. More clever marketing schemes :evil:
 
hmmm...after a week and a half...and comming from a moto q9h here are my thoughts:

the build is good, i do get some creaking but thats from the back cover.

reception is great...i never loose anybars.

screen is very nice to look at resistive touch is better then i thought. doesnt have to be pressed very hard! (i use a lenovo x200t)

on screen full keyboard is nice, but you need to get used to it. it was wierd at first but now i can be productive with it. it seems like you have to know what you want to type because i sorta have to concentrate on typing.

camera sucks if you dont know how to set it. i mean its pixle density that matters, not mp! video is good for what it is.

games are hard at first but you get used to them.

the music player is good. well i like it!
video is great, the screen just shines on this device. also the ability to watch videos on the tv from the phone is great...i watched a 1+gig mythbusters episode with my phone hooked up to the visio and my dad said, it looks like normal tv...i thought the cable recever is hooked up through hdmi? i told him its from my phone...he was very suprised...he thought it was standard tv!

wifi works pritty good once you learn how to use it. youtube is awsome, it works and looks good. needs a fb app. the browser on the phone is slow when showing full sites.

touch works good.

transition from winmoble to s60 was alil tough...after a day i started getting the hang of it!

battery life with watching some videos, probably 1-2hr music, web surfing/youtube 30min, probably 5hr worth of talking, 90-150 txt sent, 120-160 txt recived, taken 10-20 pictures w/flash, 5min video, and game playing, i still have 1/3 of my battery life. considering my day starts at 530am and is bearly ending rite now thats good! 3.5g was on the whole time, wifi was on wen on the web.

its a good phone...cant wait for the n97...iam getting used to s60, and is looking for the hardware keyboard and bigger screen on the n97, and a fb app too!
 
I JUST got the iphone last friday smart a$$. It's not like i've had it since 2007, crying about this or that.

Stop being a fanboy, Nokia doesnt care about you, trust me.
