Nokia 5800 XM NAM(850/1900): Reviews, Issues, Tips, Tricks & Support Thread!!

Ovi Store also contributes to the cache,so if you do a lot of browsing through it for apps,be sure to open the web browser and clear the cache afterward.

Rogers product code for the Nokia 5800 is 0581779
Rogers tend not to get software update for devices, except the popular smartphones (BlackBerry/iPhone) so i believe the Nokia 5800 is still shipping with the original version (v31 i believe).

debrand and change the product code of your Nokia 5800, it was the first thing i did when i got mine, no regrets.

when you connect ovi suite (the newest one), click on the maps icon. then there's a "on your device" section, click on that. let it do it's thing and all the stuff you have install will be shown on the right side

Thank you so very much. I will await your results. Ideally, let it IDLE a whole day and send you an e-mail to that account whenever you remember (let at least 1 hour pass between messages to see if the connection is dropped). Thanks in advance!

Don't get me wrong, the S60 browser is QUITE functional...way moreso than the iPhones, even.... just not as quick or intuitive. And I also agree about Opera... but yes, the 5800 is as quick or quicker than other S60 browsers, easily. If you're looking for speed, its not S60 you want LOL... although S60 is getting "better" its not "best" yet.

I'm not sure if this has been covered already but, does anyone have any tips for cleaning-up phone memory? I only have a few applications and three themes installed, all media and texts on my memory card, and I have less than 20mb remaining. When I had my E51 I had a lot more on there and still had much more space left.
Any ideas?
Thanks..

i dont think there's any way to change that. but i dont get all those prompts. i just open my address book, and highlight a contact and press the green call button, and it calls right away with no prompts like that.

v40.2.005 is out for some variants of the RM-428. RM-428 is not a European model. The Nokia OTA updater did not like it that I had v31 firmware installed that was meant for product code 0577454 and simply using NSS to change the code to 0559682 did not work. I couldn't get the update until I installed the v31 firmware that matched up with product code 0559682 as suggested by Sillieidiot. After that, I was able to a do an OTA update.

I think thats why that stand is in the retail package. I read somewhere that they are designed that when you hold the phone landscape style, your hands natural position reflex the sound back at you -or- off a flat surface on the stand. I agree they could be a touch louder. I dont think they are quiet though....Tom

I'm surprised none of you guys who have the phone have really commented/reviewed on it... it seems to be a great device and I'm verrrry tempted buy it. Seems like THE nokia I could keep - excellent screen, "feels new", great features, supposedly solid feeling, etc.

just wondering i started streaming music through yourmuze, but is there anyway to run it in the background without having it cut out? The same occurs for the station that uses real player ram files for streaming.
