New Evangelion Movie Hits September 1st, 2007!

Anime movies are not generally big money earners, since they are a nitch market even in Japan (unless Miyazaki Senior is the director ).

It's not going to be that profitable, but I certainly will enjoy it when it comes out.

My guess is not for a while, since whoever biRAB on it will surely try to secure the rights to the three following films that haven't been released yet.

Yep. Hellsing is a good example, as well; telling a popular story in a different way can be better or worse, but is usually interesting regardless.

QFT. It would've been cool to see Hikari piloting one of those things (especially since it would piss Kensuke off all the more . . .)

As for licensing . . . it's really an open race at this moment. ADV will be in it, for sure. Manga Entertainment might want it too, considering they have Death And Rebirth and EoE. Viz has the manga rights, so they might want the movie rights too. And Funi, Bandai, and Geneon might all want it just so they can get money. Lots and lots of money.

I don't see any news about licensing coming until spring 2008 at least, though.

These are pretty awsome if there fan made:

I dont like Ritsuko with long hair, but hey, she looks good regardless...

Impressive trailer I like it, and the art is a major improvement; I think Anno is trying top himself and you know, when I watched the trailer I was expecting the song This Calling by All That Remains (From the Saw 3 soundtrack) to pop up somewhere in terms of the music but that's just me I recently listened to the song and liked it alot.

I think it would be an interesting new twist if Toji actually had some time in the pilot seat of Unit-03 before Unit-01, um...paints the town red. But with all this speculation about how the new character is going to fit in the plot, I wouldn't be surprised if Toji is pushed aside.

Ain't It Cool News has a review up, and it lists a few more differences.

*The Dead Sea Scrolls are not mentioned at all.
*Unit-01 does not activate without power to protect Shinji.

Damn, they're really exploiting the new animation budget.

Loved that they covered the little moving bits that the Eva series is known for. All the machinery that's attached to supporting the Evas and NERV was always one of the trademarks of the series, and it's one of the things that brings more realism to the series; a reminder of just how much logistics goes into something of this magnitude.

Hurray, the worst father in the history of parents has appeared! All Hail Gendo!

Also got a look at the new warning/timer screens that are bound to be common in the control center. Looked good, but the new 3D-style control plug display looks like it's also going to be displaying sync ratios, from what I can tell. ReminRAB me of the Matrix for some reason.

Shamsel looks pretty good in motion, especially with all those new weird rib thingies moving about.

I think these new movies will also finally get the ball moving on the live-action adaptation. If they can effectively condense the story from the TV series into movie-length adaptations, then it would be much easier to go from there for a live-action adaptation. Not saying that it wouldn't suck in the end, but there's always hope.

From what I've seen of the trailers, it's apparent that it definitely does go into "Berserker" mode against Sachiel. I guess the question is what leaRAB up to that? Is it the old "arm-breaking followed by head impalement" from the series, or does the berserker activate without massive trauma beforehand?
