My iPhone is sold... Nexus One on its way....

Im not looking for the perfect phone... Just one with the LEAST amount of handcuffs. So I can do WHAT I WANT with me phone and not what steve tells me I should have....

Your right technology will make it nearly impossible to have the perfect phone... but you cant make it to the perfect phone if you still limit basic functions. Lets face it if i wanted just a phone that made calls and can send text... why would I even need a Iphone, Pre, Nexus or BB? I would get a nokia dumbphone and call it a day...

You get a "smartphone" because you want more than basic features... you want music, video, 3g, pictures... and you pay a premium to get them...

the only thing thats good about apples model for iphone is its a cash cow... they have perfected a way to take more of your money more effectively than anyone else has to date....

Another Bonus! T-Mobile and Asurion are even letting us insure the $529 Nexus One for $4.79 per month, even if it is sold unlocked though Google! AT&T won't even insure iPhones that THEY SELL.

Dolphin browser (Free from the Android Market) already offers multi touch, Image Multi Touch allows multi touch to view photos, and numerous other programs give the Android OS multi touch on other programs.

It really isn't THAT big of a deal... tapping on a magnifying glass icon with + or - isn't that difficult.

By the way, Flash 10.1 has been announced by Adobe for the Android OS, to be released early 2010.

What's the status of Flash for the iPhone?

Amazing......

Freaking at$t for you, let me tell you, if I was not getting what I am getting from AT&T at such a low price, I would leave...

There is Multitouch natively just not in core apps... only in 3rd party for now...

AND multitouch is not a "basic" feature... SMS, MMS, Calling, removable batteries, bluetoots, web browsing... those are basic features... even by smartphone standards...

Got anything else?

Care to address any other points?

Hard to tell. I don't really miss Flash all that much. Too much flash slows browsers/processors down anyway. Most computer problems can be traced back to bad Flash programs.

My second day with my N1, and why I'm returning it;

Things I like better than my 3Gs

Screen- it is beautiful
didn't need to jailbreak, but possibly root to get the rom tweaked
Speech to text worked very well
Widgets are nice
led for camera
Live Wallpapers are very nice
1G Snapdragon Processor

Things I like better on my 3Gs

Apps, and the fact they update often when they fix or improve
Jailbreak; adds so many customizable options
32 gb internal memory
Better and more mature UI
Exchange without having to buy a program

Why I'm returning N1: as with others that have experienced this;
very flaky RF signal. Keeps fluctuating from 3 bars of 3G-Edge-no service. Much worse than when I experienced this with my 3G. Even with full bars of 3G and -89db, I still got twice as fast of download speeds with my 3Gs.

Until the day comes that the android AppStore is as robust as apple's (gamewise) it's gonna be 4th gen iPhone for me. Plus the odd camera bulge on the nexus one is weird. Oh yea the aftermarket accessory support for apple products is second to none. Granted I'm pretty damn bored of iPhones since I've had them for the past 3 years but no matter the phone du jour I always come back to the iPhone.

Sure do. Like you contradicting yourself.

Right here:

Way to contradict yourself saying the Google phone's are better in every way when all you do is go back to customizing.

Your turn.

I don't agree with Android being nearly as polished. The lag I think is an OS issue since webOS didn't have it nearly as bad on less powerful hardware and with less RAM.

Doesn't make sense to have an iPhone on T-Mobile since you can't use it's 3G. Good luck with the Nexus...there have been a lot of issues with Nexus One/T-Mobile 3G so I hope you're patient.

LOL, where is the contradiction? I said if Iphone gets features ANDROID ALREADY HAS... then It would be hard to argue that the nexus is better than the iphone...

that is the truth.. that is me not being a fanboi...

man who cares which phone is better... what matters is that the phone owner enjoys their own phone, be it an iphone or android.

it's like arguing whether if windows 7 or mac osx is better... everyone will have their favorite and stick to it.

oh, and the iphone is better than all the phones in the world. the end. =P

Sold my 3GS on the 3rd... wasn't really expecting the Nexus to release on the 5th, but it did. So I decided to bite the bullet... Ordered on the 6th, received on the 7th. Been enjoying it ever since! A refreshing change after 2.5 yrs of iPhones.... Not necessarily better in all ways... some yes, some same, some no.... But it's different and cool.

In fact... Tethering with the Nexus right now as I type this!! :D

OP - hope you're enjoying your Nexus One as much as I am mine... I haven't read through this whole thread, so for all I know you returned it already... LOL

peace

Doesn't really have anything to do with the iPhone at all. Try selling millions of any extremely popular device with a battery built-in and see if at least one doesn't end up with a faulty battery. Sony, Nokia & Motorola have all seen similar issues. As always with the iPhone, any negative news automagically makes front page whether it's really a big deal or not.
