My iPhone is sold... Nexus One on its way....

what you guys fail to realize is that android is a platform that is released by multiple manufacturers and carriers, the iphone is a once a year thing, in 6 months there can be another android device on its way that tops the nexus.
I hope the iphone is something different this year its really getting long in the tooth so im looking for something good, the good thing is competition is heating up between everyone which is only good for us. :buddies:

Even though jailbreaking takes all of 10 seconds. ;) I guess we each have different tastes--makes the world go around.

Just hope they get the 3G/RF issues worked out with the Nexus One.

Re-jailbreaking isn't as hard as finding apps that are compatible with the Nexus One. :)

Quite a few of the apps I've downloaded from the Market just don't work on this phone yet and many devs say "coming soon" but it's annoying that Android apps don't just work on every device without having to be modified.

The Nexus Two is already being leaked here -

http://www.gsmarena.com/the_rumored_motorola_shadow_becomes_google_nexus_two-news-1385.php

4.3 inch screen, slide-out QWERTY, 8MP cam, 1080p video recording, etc.

Android phones are already so far ahead of iPhone based on the hardware that I doubt Apple could match any of those specs for the next iPhone this summer. Only thing Android needs is the apps (more quality, not just quantity) and a more polished OS. But it is clear as day that iPhone 3GS is looking far more outdated compared to the Android phones like the Nexus One, Xperia X10, etc.

Wait later this year and expect these Androids to be even faster and more powerful than whatever the next iPhone will bring in 2010...

Limitless removable storage would be great if all your app data wasn't stored on the SD card. If you remove the SD card you lose all the information the apps have stored on it. How fun is that??

Google has said they have no plans of introducing native multitouch anytime soon though developers and OEMs are free to implement it on non Google experience devices.

Don't get me wrong I loved my iPhone, it was just annoying after an update you had to redo everything with the jailbreak. I missed it at first but after learning more about android now I wouldn't go back. Besides, almost all the apps I used daily are now available on Android.

Faster and more powerful doesn't really mean squat. It's the total package from usability, integration (ie. iTunes), applications, "feel good" factor etc etc etc.

Android has a long way to go (in fact, everyone does) to catch Apple.

Apple still has a wow factor while if I ask your average joe about Android they don't even know what it is.

Yes. Every person I know with the 3G or 3Gs complain about signal. I am in downtown Chicago and my other 3G phones work fine. Just the iPhone always jumps between EDGE and 3G. The other phones (Moto a3100, q9h and Milestone) will stay only on 3G.

The crappy RF is my only real complaint.

Motorola has always made very good phone in terms of RF strength though.

Are you claiming that every app on the iphone app store was capatible with with every version of the iphone? or the software?

And if it was still compatible, was it compatible with new "features" of different OS versions? what about Iphone hardware features?

Where I work the iPhone constantly jumps from 3G to EDGE. My company gives them as company phones and everybody has the same problem.

When it it hacked to only run 3G it works well.

^

Pretty much.

The arguing point on a lot of other forums of the nexus one versus iPhone is customization and hardware. Customization doesn't equal a good user experience. But hey, you have awesome hardware and a 5.0MP camera! We have an awesome OS and and a bigger community.

Lol

nice specs... whats it gonna look and feel like..?? Who is gonna like the feel and look of it..??

you talk like your so sure of yourself... :)

But you just said its so far ahead of the iphone yet u make those above comments... Do u even know what ur saying..??

i dont see millions of Xperia's out there like the iphone does. The last time i checked i didnt hear any hype on the Xperia phone.. All the hype is on the iphone... And the Nexus just came out, its gonna take a year or so b4 that phone can take over the iphone IF IT DOES....

yea we'll see.....

haha intergration with Itunes... itunes its the worst and most bloated music management tool. The ONLY reason to use it is ease of music/video/podcast downloads... there are far better music management tools out there and they let you do WHAT YOU WANT... not what daddy Jobs wants you to do...

everything about the iphone is about someone else wants you to do(unless hacked).... i think that its complete ridiculous

Just like i thought it was ridiculous to not have MMS until sept of last year
Or like I thought it was ridiculous to not have cut and paste on the first gen iphone... or video...
Just like I think its ridiculous that i cant delete music or pictures off my iphone without connecting it to a computer..
I think its ridiculous that I can manage files on the iphone....
Just like i think its ridiculous I have no removable battery..
LAck of customization of rings... and homescreen is ridiculous...

I can go all day.. but somehow the iphone is the end all.... Iphone has always more limitations than ANY other smartphone out there...

So Please enlighten me on how exactly Iphones OS is far better than anything else?

and hardware wise what a joke.. I dont care is 3GS just came out 6 months ago... There were phones 12 months ago that out speced the Iphone 3GS...

OP, good luck on your new phone!

I think many of us are going through our iPhone withdrawals right now. That's how fickle phone collectors are. We want something new again.

Had my iPhone for 14 months now. Jailbroken and all. Getting bored of it. I actually don't use it as a phone anymore, just an iPod touch to surf the web and take notes. My Nokia has superior call quality. No echoes. I'll probably still keep my old one since Apple knows how to ball-n-chain you with their apps, OS, high storage capacity, and iTunes.

I will still get another iPhone in the future. Maybe the 128GB iPhone if they ever released it next year. 128GB would be more than enough for me for at least a few years without needing HD videos.

But the technical hardware has been clearly surpassed by these Androids. I want either the Nexus One or the Xperia X10. Only knock is the storage space and the less polished OS. The Android Market will evenutally grow though. The hardware is there, just not the apps and slick OS yet.

I personally think the Palm WebOS is still slicker than Android. But Pre's processing speed is already outdated, and the app store and build quality leaves alot to be desired.

Nexus One vs Xperia X10, still undecided. That UI for the contacts looks slow on X10, but the camera might be better (has shutter button), as well as the multimedia apps. Love both their names though. Nexus One or X10 for the year of 2010: 1st year of a new decade...

and thAt is the sole reason why I never got the 1st two gen's of the iPhone...
No 3g or mms or video on the 1st gen... IMO what a waste
no mms or video on the 2nd gen... Still a waste...
Now the 3rd gen came out with video and mms, sounds like a winner to me.

But as far as customizing home screen, ringtones, iTunes, and all that other crap you spoke of means nothing to me.

All that matters to me is the cell phone portion, certain apps are very useful, game apps are also a must for me, 3g with wifi and the ability to tether a pc.

Other than that, that's all I care for.

And it seems that ur lookin for the perfect phone which I hate to bust ur bubble but that doesn't exist... And android is far from perfect... But I'm not saying that the iPhone is perfect either cause it sure isn't but I can tell you that it outperforms every phone I've had to date.
