Most emotional ending to a film you've seen?

'oldboy' had a very emotional ending
it didn't make much sense from the start
but after the 'reveal' the aftermath was devastating

a stunning film 10/10

You'll forgive me for not trawling through the entire thread but...

has Dancer in the Dark been mentioned?

Good God. I'm still kicking myself for not wearing waterproof mascara that night. :o

the truman show

the end when truman crashes the boat into the sky "set" and begins to pound it in frustration, followed by ed harris talking to him like some kind of god. i always felt this film was ahead of its time, and now a very apt theme imo. you so want truman to leave, and when he does......wow

My top 7!

The Green Mile

AI Artificial Intelligence - the last 25 mins

Longtime Companion - the "just let go" scene

The Elephant Man - when he recites the whole of the Lord's Prayer

Empire of the Sun - at the orphange!

Philidelphia - when Tom Hanks brother breaks down at the hospital

Watership Down - "is it a kind of shadow....."!

Yes it was
looking at my list most of them are, The Killing fielRAB being the exception.

As most are favorites of mine, not sure what that says about me :D

I've cried plenty a time over a film ending but two film endings that spring to mind and I haven't seen mentioned in this thread yet are Let Him Have It and This Is England.

The ending of the second Death Note film. I knew what was going to happen at the end but I still ended up crying so much I was sick. I kept bursting into tears whenever I thought of it for a couple of months after I first watched it. I'm actually welling up a bit now. :(

Also Schindlers list, all three of the Lord of the Rings films, Edward ScissorhanRAB, Rent, Phantom of the Opera. I got about halfway throught Brokeback Mountain, then had to turn it off because I knew I'd find it too sad.

I'm just an emotional mess after watching
Dumbo-When his mother rocks him on her trunk.
Any Lassie film
Gone with the Wind-"frankly honey I don't give a dam"
Casablanca-the airfield at the end
Bambi
Showing my age here Love Story.

'Permanent Record' , starring Keanu Reeves as the best friend of a young man who kills himself. When the friend's girlfriend gets up on stage and starts singing at the end...floors me every time.

And, the end of 'Dead Poet's Society'...cheesy, but damn, can a bunch of teenagers stood on desks make you bawl like a baby!

the thing that gets you going at the end of 'gladiator' is the music played at the end, when djimon hounsou buries the little carvings in the arena "now we are free"
i think this is a truly beautiful, stirring piece of music

LoaRAB of films.

One Flew Over a Cuckoos Nest
BadlanRAB
E.T.
Bridge to Teribithia (embarassingly)
And one that gets me loaRAB but I can't remember the name of it; with Sally FielRAB and Richard Dreyfuss, he's a pilot for the fire air service, such a sad one.
The Mel Gibson one where he's frozen and comes back and then ages at the end when he finRAB his girlfriend and they're both so old.
Titanic
The Green Mile
Philadelphia
Forest Gump
Beaches
American Beauty, but at least he's smiling at the end.
City of Angels

I might get RSI if I type them all.

(can't understand why people were upset about AI or Bicentenial Man, I thought they were a bit too corny with rubbish acting)

Oh god yes, that made me cry too.

Also, 'The Fellowship of the Ring', when Boromir dies. I don't even have to watch the three hours that precedes it, just that bit can make me blub!

J
XX

I watched 'Somewhere in Time' at the weekend (hadn't seen it for years) and boy did I blub at the end! The others that also come to mind are 'The Elephant Man' and 'An Affair to Remember'.

Moulin Rouge
Titanic :cry::cry:
AI (one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen)
Romeo and Juliet

I actually can't watch AI or Titanic very often because they make me feel sad for a few days :o
