Mock The Week - Series 9, BBC2 Thursdays 10pm (Merged)

In fairness, that post doesn't make a huge amount of sense. :p

Seems a bit lazy. Only three shows into the series, too. If there's a good reason they're doing a very good job of hiding it. Even if it was a family emergency, they could've said so without being disrespectful. Seems kinda shit to broadcast a programme called "Mock the Week" a week out of date.

I personally thought it was terrible, Whitehall and those other 2 were shocking during the stand up round - just shouting their way through shit material. And that South African guy came across as a racist.

For me it's just not the same without Frankie, only Dara and sometimes Hugh make me laugh.

Frankie is missed on SWLTS:

Unlikely things to hear on a childrens' programme:

"This drawing has been sent in by Robert, Age 9.
Thats a shit drawing Robert. There are children in China your age who can make clothes!"

:D

This week was a return to the dire.
The show can't seem to attract comedians of any quality.
Since when did Jack Whitehall become so insufferable?
Since Frankie left the show has just plummeted.

OMFG its just getting worse each week and it dosnt help when watching on dave with frankie boyle on it who made the show worth watching.

and god almighty is Chris Addison trying to be funny i found the idea of having a vasectimy more funny than him!

Chris and Milton were pretty good as usual, and the regulars were ok too... as usual though, the first-timer struggled, and of course it does still miss Frankie's particular style... :)

The only man who really comes close to making up for him would be David Mitchell, who as a regular alongside Hugh would balance it out nicely.

It'd also be good to see a return to the old days, where Dara had his own slot at the start of the show - he's still the funniest man on there by a distance.

Next week's guests don't look overly promising - Whitehall is the best of a bad bunch...

There is NO good satire on TV anywhere at the moment.

MTW has forgotten the Mock and is so dull it is taking the Mock.
Its as improvisationally creative as coronation street ( which probably has better one liners)

and all the other satirical programmes are equally as dull. ( sorry ....cant think of any other topical satirical programmes at the mo coz there is non )

For the last month ..went onto BBC I player selected comedy and it never change its listings for weeks ..hardly fast paced !!!

On radio 7 day sunday and the news quiz at least attempts to be spontaneous.

Get the Mock out of here.....Dull Dull Dull Dulll.

Has anybody noticed that Andy Parsons has picked up some bad habits from the dreadful Russell Howard? There was a number of occasions last night when he said: "Wouldn't it be fantastic if . . . ?" and "How ridiculous would it be if . . . ?".

He comes across as fairly similar to Howard. I saw a bit of him on the Wright Stuff this morning before work, and he seemed another leftie, "let's make a joke about the Daily Mail or how bizarre it would be if gophers ate the London eye and left a bit for Vanessa Feltz to gorge on" comedian.
He'll fit MTW perfectly then :p

Did he say why??

At least he's finally stopped with the Lenny Henry joke ("The BBC has a one-in one-out policy, so I have to wait for Lenny Henry to die"), but I'm not overly looking forward to his sketch show. They're hard enough to pull off at the best of times, but I find having them on mainstream TV channels doesn't often work for me. In recent years, the only ones I can remember that made me laugh a lot were Sorry I've Got No Head (CBBC, repeated on BBC1) and ITV2's Laura, Ben and Him, with Laura Solon, Ben Willbond and Marek Larwood.

Laura Solon's Radio 4 sketch show, Talking and Not Talking was also well worth a listen, but occasionally hit and miss.
