Mock The Week - Series 9, BBC2 Thursdays 10pm (Merged)

I used to like Yashere, but she's in DESPERATE need to new material..surely she's churning out the same stuff since she started?

Is it Andi Osho you're thinking, for the other one? :)

I absolutely LOVE Mock The Week. The only thing I don't like about the programme is the fact that the episodes are too short! Would be better if the shows were on for an hour each week.

Yeah, the bits that descend into being conversational rather than pre-planned lines do tend to be the funniest. I think that's why Would I Lie To You is my favourite panel show at the moment, it relies entirely on that sort of thing, rather than topical humour which is easy to pre-rehearse.

The absence of Russell Howard in recent weeks has contributed hugely to the fall off in quality.

I wouldn't be surprised if he jacked it permenantly as, like Frankie, he's getting plenty of work outside. If Andy were to follow (could be in a similar situation before long) it would be time to end it.

I used to really dig Russell Howard, but he's starting to grate a bit. I do get what you guys mean that he's like that one student who thinks he's funny 'cause he's so damn zany, but actually he's just a little annoying.

He's infinitely better on Good News, and his stand-up's fairly good, but on Mock the Week it's turning into an avalanche of non-sequiturs and not much besides. It's like he's just gone "odd potential situations: these will be funny." That thing about the monkey... what?!

Caught up on MTW today and barely registered that it was on. Andy Parsons was the only one who got a laugh. It's just getting dull now. Was last week, too. It's getting further and further from must-see TV for me.

I thought this too, at first I thought he was putting it on as if it was part of his act but then it just started becoming more pronounced.

I also I thought this was why he was rather less funny than he has been in the past.

Last standard episode of the series tonight.

Chris Addison and Jack Whitehall one one team - make your own minRAB up
Ed Byrne and Miles Jupp on the other - has promise

Surely you meant to ask - "*Why* has Jack *White*hall started doing *ev*erything in a "*com*edy" voice. He never USED to speak like that!"

(WorRAB in asterisks - do in a lower town of voice)

Because he's a one liner comedian. He has a joke for every topic. Jimmy Carr, Stewart Francis and Tim Vine would be in the same boat. You give them a topic and they could give you 5 jokes on that topic.

Just to remind you of tonights line up:
Russell Kane, Kevin Bridges, Milton Jones and Patrick Kielty.

I remember Kielty being slated before his previous appearance but I thought he did ok. He's certainly not the worst guest they've had.

I hope Bridges contributes more tonight than before and we'll have to see how first timer Kane handles it.

Craig Campbell has been around for quite sometime. Ok, he's not mainstream or on panel shows but it's strange that he's now being "championed".

I saw Imran Yusuf for the first time on the BBC Edinburgh fest and he had some good jokes. His train joke had me in stitches although it was on the edge of decency :D
